Dems Set to Bully Companies That Note ObamaCare's Costs
Ace of Spades blog citing Powerline ^ | March 27, 2010 | Gabriel Malor

Posted on 03/27/2010 4:44:27 PM PDT by Mount Athos

This past week several big companies, including Caterpillar, Verizon, and AT&T, announced that ObamaCare would cost them millions of dollars this year. To pay for it they variously suggested layoffs and benefits reductions. Analysts suggest that the total first-quarter hit to S&P 500 firms will be $4.5 billion.

Well, Democrats can't stand to have their precious economy-destroying healthcare program criticized in its very first week, so they've announced an "investigation" into the claims. Late yesterday, the House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigation sent letters to the CEOs of AT&T, Caterpillar, Deere & Co, and Verizon asking them to appear for a hearing on their claims. In the letters, Waxman and Stupak ask for company documents including accounting analyses and the internal emails of all "senior company officials" related to the projected costs of ObamaCare. How serious are they? The letter actually defines "senior company officials."

Power Line has a copy of one of the letters.

Not content with their victory, Democrats won't rest until they've beaten down anyone who points out the devastation caused by their anti-prosperity policies. This will be as much of an "investigation" as the Democrats' demonization of oil company CEOs last summer or Toyota execs more recently.

How about iotrogenic... not sure if it is spelled correctly but it means the death is caused by the treatment, not the illness...

Sounds like the right effects, but the word might be too scientific. Ideally it would be one of those great terms like Trojan Horse or Poison Pill or Black Widow, but it hasn't come to mind yet.

Nancy Pelosi, Barney Franks, Henry Waxman, John Conyers, and Maxine Waters registered members of the Democratic Socialists of America(Communist Party) in 2002. Their agenda is very anti-american, destroy capitalism.

Democrats do not understand the laws they passed years ago. THEY are the ones who demanded corporations report up front any changes and now they are going to demand to know why these corporations are doing exactly what they demand of them??? These guys are showing their own stupidity and thin skin cause their wonderful health care boondoggle is cracking under it own weight before it takes full effect.

How about the Lewinski Paradox, as in, Clinton signed the anti-sexual harassment law which was later used against him. Yeah, I know, the Clinton Paradox would be better, but why not rub their noses in it?. Hmmm, how about Clinton's Law of Unintended Consequences ... C.L.U.C?

Then again, how about the Anti-5th Amendment: "any law you sign will be be used against you? With this administration we could probably come up with a complete negative Bill of Rights!

The fact is the executives of these companies can just ignore the frickin’ letters, and if I was in charge that is exactly what I would do. I hope they all tell the dimwits to stick it up their collective a**es.

"The only LEGAL TAX REVOLT we have is to CUT OUR SPENDING."

Ok

Ever heard of the "Slow Food" Movement? ["Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization that was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life..."]

How about an "Essential Purchases Only" Movement [to counteract deficit spending, debt, and high taxation]? Members only make essential purchases until government puts a stop to the excessive spending. This would be very effective at the state level where sales taxes are generally critical to revenue.

I hope they DRIVE or take commercial air to D.C. and do not take corporate jets. Otherwise the Leftists and Leftist MSM will attack them on that basis.

soetoro will just print more money until the dollar has no value. Don’t they realize that like the end of “Atlas Shrugged” they will ultimately lose? Or do they think they will break us like 1984? That is certainly their collective wet dream. I have stopped investing and only contribute the minimum for employer match at my pesky day job. What should i do with the money already in my Roth IRA and 401k? Leave it alone? Cash it out early and get penalized by the looters? Any advice would be appreciated.
