And why does everyone seem to assume that the civilians in such a case would all be blubberbutt accountants driving to the battle in their Volvos?

Because that is who the left identifies with. We project what is "familiar," which is further evidence that this "Sgt USMC" is nothing of the kind.

Pure BS if you ask me, and the dummies reading it, fell for it hook, line and sinker...

Not to mention that some of the civilian rambo wannabes were rambos while this guy was but a twinkle in his daddy’s eye and later and STILL.

That's possible, but I doubt any large invading force would come to the US.

Sure, the sleepers here would rise up and chaos would ensue. But, the one thing is "when your enemy is making a mistake, let him."

That would be the worst time for an invading force to enter the US. What would most likely happen is Americans (with the gov't) rallying against a common enemy.

This is similar to when everyone kept saying Israel should bomb Iran "now" during the protests. All that would do is defeat the revolt.

At most you would have foreign agents attempting to take advantage of the situation and maybe UN troops. But, the UN troops would probably be in a support and security role.

This of course would be coupled with sleepers/enemy agnts that committed attacks in order to further incite violence and destruction. I think that any home-grown American militia would take more pleasure in killing Ahmad than a US servicemeber; no matter what the political divide, ideology, or power grab.

Most folks that seem to lean toward the militia movement are very resentful towards terrorists and feel the US isn't doing enough in Afghanistan. Therefore, I don't see the enemy of my enemy working out in a terrorist or foreign agent's favor.

I think that Rawles has it close. Most of the cities would empty out (especially once entitlement checks stopped flowing) and there would bebands of criminals capitalizing the situation. I also think that most Americans would try to band together in their respective communities. Further, I think the militias and American insurgents wouldn't exactly advertise this.

The US is still small town USA.... and much of the liberal support would come from larger cities.

Another problem is the vast expanse of the US. Figure even securing Iraq and Afghanistan was/is difficult... these COUNTRIES are the size of STATES. And there are 50 of 'em (57+ by Obama's count).

So, it would be no small task. It would be a soup-sandwich as they say if any of this were to come about.

More than likely, Active Duty troops would secure key infrastructure/bases and the National Guard and Reserves would be tasked with putting down the rebellions. But, this would be problematic as the National Guard and Reserves would be facing neighbors and families.

But, this is all conjecture and imagination.

IF our professional troops were ever called upon to shoot civilians, and IF they followed those orders, there would be a lot more dead civilians than there would be dead military. Bambi versus Godzilla. No contest. Even with an outrageous advantage in numbers, the rebels would be obliterated.

Providing you can easily identify the "rebels."

Exactly how do you think they will go about doing this?

If there’s a civil war it won’t be Fallujah, it will be Somalia. I love our military but at some point, no matter how good, you are overwhelmed and outgunned. That’s why the miltary was so careful to keep the civilian population more or less on their side during Iraq.

They won’t be slimebag imported goat humping terrorists hiding IED’s and dialing a cell phone. You will have national guards and ex-military fighting and up against 1000 to 1 numbers or more, spraying and sniping. Many will be educated and use tactics, not running at you in a frontal assault to die for Allah. They will steal miltary equipment and even the odds. They will come at you from every direction

It won’t be on a flat desert, there will be many more cities, a much greater population, and much more territory to cover. You spread a million troops across this country and you’d barely know they were there. And everything you bomb is lost tax revenue - less money to pay the troops.

All that said, I don’t think the military will go there. Obama and crowd has far more to fear from our military than we do.

Have our Officers been drilled and trained on the Constitution? It should be clear to them when facing American citizens, if they are for or against the constitution and if the orders are for or against it.

I hope Godly men and women will turn against those who are willing to willy nilly mowed down citizens.

I wouldn't even want the leftist anti-war protesters shot up. Those scum deserve a good beating, and sent home (or deported) to mommy, but lethal force should be a very difficult and thought out decision on our militaries part.

That said, I don't think after the first mowed down, it would be nearly as easily. We have a well armed citizenry and a lot of pretty good riflemen. It would dissolve into uncontrolled chaos and the UN and our enemies would lick their chops and move into to grab land.

I just hope the ones responsible for our nearing bankruptcy, overspending and unconstitutional maneuvers don't see the light of the other side of what they are pushing us toward.

True -- unless enough of the military mutinied. Then Obama might ask for non-English speaking troops to be sent here as a UN "peacekeeping" force to put down his own military.

“This Marine, if that is what he is, needs to recognize that Marines will do what their officers tell them to up to a popint. When there is a question of who is violating the constitution, there is a big question as to what the troops will do. We are Americans not mind numbed robots and not rag heads in Iraq.”

Spot on. Further, if it ever came to Civil War (I don’t think it is anything remotely close to that at this point) the situation would likely be quite ambiguous for those actively serving in the military.

Stack on top of this the likely fact that the government may not be paying military pensions as promised, and in a time of duress may not even be sending paychecks that are worth what they are today, and one wonders what will happen.

Which, in order to happen as you say, would give the US insurgent forces control of US military hardware and expertise.... united against a common enemy and on home turf.

I don't know of any country stupid enough to jump into that hornet nest..... not even a UN force... especially since there'd be nothing to compensate them with. You also have to remember that we provide quite a bit of funding for the UN. How would we be able to back that with anything of tangible value if the economy tanks in a civil war?

UMPOSSIBLE I SAY.

I appreciate what you say here, but secession is a political act, not an act of war. Don’t fall into that left wing trap. A seceding state(s) doesn’t ask for civil war, that would be insane. The seceding state(s) asks for their walking papers from the USA, if the Feds start something then....

Please try keep in mind that we are all free to speak or write what we choose with very few exceptions.

I doubt that Sgt C is a Marine; but if he is, he does not speak for all of us. However; his comments about defending the Constitution were right on target. We will not tolerate anyone that tramples on our Constitution. That includes communists, socialists and those who would engage in a Civil War with the idea of overthrowing our government.

What do I think? I think this article is as much phony bovine excrement as your theory on another thread that the bullet that struck Rep Cantor’s campaign office was a random shot from a hunter...in downtown Richmond, Virginia...at 1 o’clock in the morning.

The military wouldn’t just be fighting a bunch of flabby civilian Rambo wannabes with Ruger 10-22 rifles.

Couldn’t help but chuckle when the image you describe comes to mind:)

Would it surprise you to know how many of us are 5’8”/120 lbs and whose weapon of choice is a mini 14? Equally as comfortable with a 20 gauge. No pea shooters for me. Target practice is a hobby around here and it produces ace marksmen (and women). We’ve got grandkids who were comfortable with their guns by the age of three.

I agree with Wintertime. To get to mine you’ll have to go through me.

Ya I call BS too. This "Marine" writes an open letter threatening anyone involved in a civil war because of his deep profound dedication to the US Constitution. In his terms he would "frag" people in any state because of his oath to the Constitution.
I am skeptical of this guy because if he was so passionate about defending the Constitution, he would be upset at all the usurpers in D.C. He doesnt seem to give a damn about congress violating the 10th Amendment every time it gives more regulatory powers to the Federal Government. He doesnt case about obongo and his army of czars stepping on individual liberty, subverting the Constitution every day. And thats fine... I dont expect everyone to be passionate about liberty... but he cant give me a line saying he is such a Constitutional defender he would kill civilians when he doesnt care this administration usurps the Constitution everyday.
He should just say he is a liberal and hopes the military kills anyone that would stand up against this administration.

The way I figure it, if a non-violent revolution doesnt succeed, then a violent revolution is called for.

You realize there are 10 times more military veterans on the streets than in the military. Their tactics, plans, command and control, and vulnerabilities are not a secret.

No one in the military is going to start killing Americans. The in-fighting alone within the ranks would not only destroy the command and control, but the entire military. Think about the size of this country, the number of people...And then think about the supply lines that would be needed for support....They'd starve and run out of supplies....Compound that with massive moral issues....It would be utter chaos... Ferrrrget it.

Secession does NOT MEAN WAR! Secession is a political act. A state seceding is not asking for war. If the Feds react to it like animals, then there's the violence. Get it OLD MAN!

Fairly clever propaganda though, if you think about it ;-)

I don’t want to see a civil war and I don’t believe that many Americans want to see that happen. If it ever does it will be the result of the actions of the Marxists among us, starting with Barack Obama.

There hasn’t been any further coverage of his statement about wanting a standing civilian military force equal in training and funding to our military. That is the most blatant example of the treasonous intent of Obama. He is the one who disputes the Founding Fathers and the Constitution.

The Founders specifically stated that they never wanted to see an organization in America like the one Obama described. It is very ominous that no news source, including Fox, has mentioned that speech of the president’s.

In fact, if there is a civil war in America it will be instigated and initiated by Barack Obama and the Marxists who control today’s Democratic Party.
