Two years ago, John McCain transformed Sarah Palin overnight from an obscure first-term Alaska governor into a national celebrity when he picked her as his vice presidential running mate.
Now Palin is repaying the favor, putting her prestige on the line in an effort to help the four-term Arizona senator overcome his toughest re-election challenge ever.
The two campaigned together Friday for the first time since they lost the presidential race in 2008.
At the first of two rallies this weekend, Palin pumped up Tea Partiers, invoking the cause of the first Tea Party in 1773.
"Remember it was the Freedom Fighters and those who protested tyranny and big government," she said. "And that's what we're doing today."
"And when you think about that first Tea Party, shoot, some may claim that John was there, at the first Tea Party," she said with a laugh, poking fun at McCain's age. McCain, who is 73, grinned widely beside her.

I called him out as well. I can't wait all morning for a response. I hope he answers you soon.
McCain is trying to keep his seat warm until his daughter is old enough to run for it. As for his military service, it is little known that McCain lost five aircraft he was piloting and was known as America’s first “reverse ace.”
Old man is a term of endearment. This young man risked his life in combat to preserve the surplus population, who now sits on their sorry buts and drinks beer at the Legion.
Thanks for the encouragement. You know, I was thinking and noticing something along this line just the other day. The republican party has, for a long time, been represented by very old faces...but that's been changing. There is more diversity and more youth. I think this occurred when I saw Cantor taking Obama to task. Now I'm not an ageist...I don't think older people can't contribute or have nothing to contribute...quite the opposite.
But I've noticed that it's the democrat party who is starting to look like very old hippies...scary. Look at Reid, Pelosi, Boxer and Kennedy when he was alive. For the most part the leadership of the democrat party has grown old, bitter and hateful. The republican party needs, and I content is getting, fresh faces with some younger energy. This can't but help on a number of levels.
Simply my dear, but remove your what have you’s.
No, she should burn bridges and alienate everyone everywhere she goes in the name of ideological conservative purity!
Do I need the /s. Considering the caliber of arguments by the Mayberry crowd, I consider it necessary.
You have, although perhaps unintentionally. But there is no value in belaboring the point.
If we use your rules of discourse, I would have to say yes. Did I vote for Susan Collins? Yes. You would have voted for Tom Allen if you lived in Maine? No...you would have stayed home like you did in when Obama got elected.
If you have lost your sense of humor you have lost everything.
LOL
thanx!
Come now, I have a sense of humor, but it doesn't run toward slapstick...more dry humor.
He IS a deficit hawk.
The issue is not McNasty, it's Palin supporting him over Hayworth, and her even bashing the Conservative so her RINO mentor can win reelection.
I realize that it is a difficult concept for you to grasp, but your heroine is losing fast by her own doing. She has pretty much guaranteed her failure as a candidate. The Conservative base will go after her with a vengeance.
If that is “twisting the facts”, then take a look at what Palin is doing when she pumps up McNasty as being some Conservative Icon instead of a traitor who sides with Democrats.
Many of the endorsements that you cite are for the general election against the RAT, after the RINO had already won the GOP nomination. Palin has not just endorsed RINO Juan McLame, but she is actively campaigning for McLame in a primary against a real conservative. She has lost my support and will have to earn it back.
wow you and i are the only 2 left ‘pure’ enuf to run
and i’m starting to wonder about me
So far, the Tea Party movement has been very successful at keeping at bay those critics and enemies who would LOVE to claim it's an arm of the Republican Party.
Palin has done the Movement no favors by stupidly linking the RINO worm, McAmnesty, to these grass-roots patriots.....even slyly intimating he was one of the "founding" supporters.
In fact, I find her bubbling chirrupings on this to be incredibly unheeding and damaging. I hope someone calls her on this and puts a plug in her mouth before she does more harm to the non-partisan and highly-successful Tea Party Movement.
Sarah, you have NO business linking the noxious McCain to the Tea Parties in any way, shape or form. Please don't do it again.
Leni
Slap-stick is good as long as it is not slap shtick.
Don’t tangle with me highlander, something is showing up your kilt.
