EDITORIAL: The left's next move: Salary caps--Administration expands reach into private-sector..
The Washington Times ^ | March 28, 2010 | Editorial

Emboldened by the passage of health care legislation, the Obama administration will set its sights on a new target - regulating how much money you can make.

Recipients of federal bailout money already face regulations designed to rein in "excessive" corporate salaries. Since the administration has proclaimed this first step a success, it is only a matter of time before it seeks broader control over private-sector compensation.

The administration gave itself a pat on the back for a job well done after "only" 16 of 104 senior corporate executives quit when their salaries fell under the pay czar's knife. The administration takes this as indisputable proof that high salaries are not needed to keep executives in their jobs.

The evidence, however, is far from compelling. Most executives are not going to abandon their companies instantly, and the cuts only went into effect in the last few weeks of 2009. While the salary reductions were substantial - on average a 74 percent cut compared to 2008 levels - there is no way to know whether companies are promising to make up the losses to their executives in the future because they think the regulations will be lifted eventually.

Can someone explain to me what benefit that King Obama thinks he will get by setting caps on executive salaries in the private sector? I understand he is a little commie....but what is the commie idea behind capping salaries? Why do they believe that that brings more money into the government? How does it even transfer wealth? Just because an executive makes less money doesn’t mean that the company is going to hire more people or pay their employees more.

All I can figure is that it is just one more way that they are trying to collapse our capitalist system. Any thoughts?

The whole thing is crazy. I was walking home tonight after a couple of drinks with a leftist (dumb but very sweet) and we were both saying that we are afraid that our lives are going to be changed and destroyed by this. I didn’t press him on it, but I think there are many people in the US now who are very freaked out.

LOL!

There’s a lot of them that I doubt can spell salary cap but they’re very proficient at what they do.

I doubt Zer0 would go after them. :-)

These nitro-salaried executives are NOT responsible for the 12 trillion dollar debt DC created - yet, they’re somehow at fault for contributing to the Country’s financial problems.

Direct quote from the SEIU bylaws.

We must organize unorganized Healthcare workers, extending to them the gains of unionism while securing control over the Healthcare industry.

I sure can’t answer that other than the turkeys are trying to bring down our capitalistic system.

As to why do they believe that that brings more money into the government? I believe it will work for the opposite, they go under because of bad management and the money going to the government stops.

Exactly! If Zer0 and his thugs would let the private sector alone we’d come nearer paying that debt off. Of course that’s taking into account they don’t keep running it up by trillions more.

In fact, the logo, its explaination, how to use it, how to coordinate it with other logo collectives takes up quite a bit of their web site.

Here's one that I personally find to be a little disturbing.

However we do have several GOP state legislators on the SEIU leash. (They introduced the legislation that led to the forced unionization of home care workers)

Oh...it WILL work the opposite....less oney will be coming into the government coffers. That’s all I can figure that they want to do with this ‘idea’. It’s all meant to destroy capital and wealth in order to set us on the rapid path to communism.

We have an enemy of this country living in the White House as our President. There is no other way to explain the things the man is doing to this country.

"....less oney will be coming into the government coffers."

Socialists do not believe in capitalism or democracy.

They are perfectly happy to print money or ruin a capitalist economy.

I remember another leader who tried the same thing with Messerschmitt AG back in the early 1940s.

Great! I can’t wait to see what Oprah’s salary cap is. How about Sean Penn? Tom Hanks? Barbara Walters? Let’s start with the news/enterainment industry.

This doesn't surprise me. I remember back in the 1996 (???) Presidential election, I was watching the Green Party convention on C-SPAN; & one of their top candidates (Jello Biafra, IIRC), said that, in addition to raising the minimum wage to a ridiculously high amount, there should also be a MAXIMUM wage in the US, too. I think his chosen amount was $100,000 !!! Can you imagine an America where NO ONE is allowed to make more than $100K / yr?
