This book is dedicated to an anonymous member of Spain's Secret Police. On January 27, 1960, during a brief encounter on a quiet back street in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, I asked him for advice on how best to avoid any problems in the land of Generalissimo Francisco Franco. The advice he gave me has served me well for forty years. He said there was only one way to avoid troubles with the authorities: "Make yourself invisible."

This a great book in that it gives rise to serious questions, however, the answers are a bit off.
1. Private inestigstors are not all knowing or powerful. They can’t find anyone that takes the appropriate actions to go dark.
2. An LLC is not a cloaking device. Business records of incorporation are public records. Many State Secretary offices place such records online. They even scan and show the originals. The point is that at some point you must lie in order to go dark. You must create a ficticious identity, and you must have no connection to it. The DoD, State Dept all have experts that do such things for them.
If I have to create a false identity just to live in my own country it is time to change that country. We must stand proud as Americans, stand and be counted, not hide in fear.
Thanks for posting this JJ. I will read this at my next opportunity.
We bought this book a couple of years ago. We will soon be moving to the country and using some of his suggestions. Utilities will be in “farm” name, vehicles will be in “farm” name, insurance will be in “farm” name, use of PO Box that is not attached to our address, and the use of a Ghost address for deliveries.
Unfortunately we did not have his book before we purchased the property.
Thank you for posting this.
I spent way too much work time already and am going to read more tonight, then buy the update.
Wish I knew this stuff years ago...
A friend of mine told me knows someone who paid a mechanic (either pro or "shade-tree") to remove all the semiconductor-based systems from a car; they were either replaced with old-fashioned "analog" equivalents,
I was under the impression that it's illegal to go from a fuel-injected system to carburetion due to emissions laws.
Amen.
I’ve read it. It’s very dated. Recent legislation makes in nearly impossible to implement his full “invisibility” plan. I did take some good info away from it, including using revocable trusts to afford privacy and avoid probate on land, and finding someone who can be your “package receiver”.

Thanks for the download. I suspect (regretfully) that it will be handy in the near future.
“We must stand proud as Americans, stand and be counted, not hide in fear.”
I understand this sentiment; however, there is a time and a place for everything. We need to be very, very clever. Nope, nobody is going to get points by playing the martyr - your family will starve, you’ll be a prison pin-cushion (lots of pricks in you), etc. I am all for going down so you can hold your head high to Your Savior, but part of being a Son of Liberty is to not get caught, to harass, to stymie. One less player weakens and draws out what us wolves will be trying to accomplish.
Sorry to speak in code, but I imagine many of you understand what I am talking about.

Word of caution, never walk around with no clothes on. You never know when the invisibility may wear off........
It’s good for me to read, because my new fictional character is trying to fly under radar in Castigo Cay.
The other 5% of us use burn phones.
Great post.
