49% Support State Lawsuits Against Health Care Plan
Rasmussen Reports ^ | March 23, 2010

Posted on 03/23/2010 8:47:56 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Forty-nine percent (49%) of U.S. voters favor their state suing the federal government to fight the requirement in the new national health care plan that every American must obtain health insurance.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of likely voters finds that 37% disagree and oppose their state suing to challenge that requirement. Fourteen percent (14%) are undecided.

A number of states, including Texas, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, have already announced plans to sue the government over what they view as an unconstitutional requirement that every American buy or obtain health insurance. President Obama is expected to sign the health care plan into law today after the House on Sunday by a 219-212 vote approved the Senate version of the legislation.

Seventy-two percent (72%) of Republicans and 58% of voters not affiliated with either major party favor such lawsuits. Sixty-five percent (65%) of Democrats are opposed. This suggests that filing a suit would be popular in Republican leaning and toss-up states but not in strong Democratic states. Of course, as with all things in the world of politics, these realities could shift over time as both parties try to spin the recently-passed legislation.

The gap over suing the federal government is even wider between Mainstream Americans and the Political Class. Sixty-two percent (62%) of Mainstream voters think state lawsuits challenging the federal requirement are a good idea. Seventy-nine percent (79%) of the Political Class disagree.

Most voters (53%) oppose a provision in the new health care law that requires every American to buy or obtain health insurance. Just 42% favor it. These findings include 42% who are Strongly Opposed and 25% who Strongly in Favor.

I'd be thrilled -- and very surprised -- if the Supreme Court struck down Obamacare, but it is worth pursuing. The main battlefronts are the 2010 and 2012 elections.

SCOTUS shredded MCCAIN-Feingold and the justices were called fools and idiots plus practically racists (not wise latinas) for doing it. Hussein humiliated them in the state of the union speech for it.

I think it is time for some payback. VA’s bill may have the fasest track on the rocket docket in their district. Ken Cucccinelli AG for VA is a conservative bull dog too.

All options must be pursued. In Ohio, we are working on getting a Ohio constitutional amendment on the November ballot. Some say that a voter approved amendment will carry more weight than the states suing. We will see. Besides, we have a rat-commie AG and Gov.

What was done was bad enough, but how it was done made it even worse. This monstrosity was rammed down our throats by the all the machinery of the left. They are happy and dancing today, but all they really accomplished was to divide our country even further between a minority of radical marxists who have usurped power, and the ever-growing majority of decent hard-working Americans who love their country.

Purging our nation of these marxist parasites will be an ugly process, but perhaps they have now awakened the sleeping giant and filled it with that terrible resolve.

By the way, what is the definition of “the Political Class” as opposed to “mainstream Americans?”

Is this bill against the religion of some people like Christian Scientists and Jehova’s Witnesses—who will have to pay for medical treatments that are against their religion?

what is the definition of “the Political Class”

I think it is "people who feel that they are much better than you".

When the GOP has the majority, a simple idea:

“No funds shall be expended, in any court, to defend the Constitutionality or legality of Obamacare”

That would do it.

I do know one thing. If even ONE SINGLE STATE had resisted a George W. Bush initiative that state (and its political leaders) would be media heroes.

Would someone with a catastrophic policy and HSA being forced to pay the ‘fine’ as if they didn’t have any insurance have ‘standing’ with the court?

Who in the hell are all the slaves who don't oppose being mandated to buy insurance? Who are these people? Putting their hands out and begging to have the chains locked on? God, what has this country come to?

Second thought-I know who they are. They are all the people who will be or think they will be exempt from buying it, because some tax-paying sucker will have to foot the bill-again-for their "free" health care. I'm so sick of blood-sucking parasite scum losers. If they're going to keep coming here and bringing their "diverse" diseases, may those diseases be swiftly fatal. May they drop en masse when they gang up again for another "demonstration" to "protest" for their "rights". Just drop where they stand.

2 out of every 5 people you know consciously support using the Federal Government to enslave and subjugate YOU. These may be your friends, family, neighbors, or coworkers.

We can curse the politicians and the government all we want, but without voting citizen-oppressors like this, the politicians would be irrelevant.

I think it is “people who feel that they are much better than you”.

Unfortunately, as applied to me, about 98% of Americans could justifiably claim to be in the political class.

We are fighting more than Obama and Pelosi. I’ve prepared myself that a good segment of the population will be for this and I won’t be discouraged by any poll or Pravda news story.

Yep....The fact that only 49% support overturning this unconstitutional law proves that we’re truly f*cked.
