WASHINGTON (AP) -- A judge has ordered the release of a Guantanamo Bay detainee described in the 9/11 commission report as a significant al-Qaida operative who provided advice to three of the Sept. 11 hijackers.

The ruling in favor of detainee Mohamedou Ould Salahi was disclosed Monday in a two-sentence court entry.

U.S. District Judge James Robertson will issue a written decision at a later date explaining his reasons for granting the detainee's petition.

“Judge Orders Release of Gitmo Detainee With Ties to 9/11 Attacks”
Monday, March 22, 2010

WASHINGTON —

SNIPPET: “Mohamedou Ould Slahi was accused in the 9/11 Commission report of helping recruit Mohammed Atta and other members of the Al Qaeda cell in Hamburg, Germany, that took part in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Military prosecutors suspected Slahi of links to other Al Qaeda operations, and considered seeking the death penalty against him while preparing possible charges in 2003 and 2004.”

SNIPPET: “Brig. Gen. John Furlow, who helped lead a Pentagon-ordered investigation into detainee abuse at Guantanamo Bay, has testified that Slahi was “the highest value detainee” at the offshore prison and “the key orchestrator of the Al Qaeda cell in Europe.””

Don’t tell me. The judge is a Clinton or Carter appointee.

James Robertson (born 1938) is a judge for the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. James Robertson was appointed a United States District Judge by President Bill Clinton in 1994. Chief Justice William Rehnquist later placed him on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. On December 20, 2005, Judge Robertson resigned his Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court position.

Notable rulings

Civil Action 08-2254 (JR) - Case to potentially invalidate the candidacy of Barack H. Obama II due to the Issue of Nationalization and Citizenship. The case was dismissed, deemed frivolous, and all other forward cases were deemed frivolous due to a prior ruling.

The evidence against him was ruled inadmissible.

It was reported on Fox News that what Couch characterized as “torture” was harsh interrogation techniques and the one particular identified was that a threat was made to the detainee of physical action against his mother if he didn’t talk.

Yost is a long-time AP propaganda artist, so one should assume this piece is one-sided.

How is this even under a federal judges jurisdiction?

Notable rulings

* Schroer v. Library of Congress - Is gender transition covered under sex discrimination protection? Quote from conclusion: “In refusing to hire Diane Schroer because her appearance and background did not comport with the decisionmaker’s sex stereotypes about how men and women should act and appear, and in response to Schroer’s decision to transition, legally, culturally, and physically, from male to female, the Library of Congress violated Title VII’s prohibition on sex discrimination.”

* Hamdan v. Rumsfeld - Military trials of Guantanamo Bay detainment camp prisoners [1]

* U.S. v. Webster Hubbell - (1) Whether the 5th Amendment privilege against self-incrimination protects information previously recorded in voluntary created documents that a defendant delivers to the government pursuant to an immunized act of production, and (2) whether a defendant’s act producing ordinary business records constitutes a compelled testimonial communication solely because the government cannot identify the documents with reasonable particularity before they are produced? Supreme Court upheld 8-1

* American Council of the Blind v. John W. Snow, Secretary of the Treasury et al. - The U.S. Treasury Department’s failure to design, produce and issue paper currency that is readily distinguishable to blind and visually impaired people violates federal law, since paper money effectively precludes them from meaningful access to U.S. currency. “Of the more than 180 countries that issue paper currency, only the United States prints bills that are identical in size and color in all their denominations,” Robertson wrote.

* Civil Action 08-2254 (JR) - Case to potentially invalidate the candidacy of Barack H. Obama II due to the Issue of Nationalization and Citizenship. The case was dismissed, deemed frivolous, and all other forward cases were deemed frivolous due to a prior ruling.

So now we have an opportunity for Zero's administration to demonstrate that they are indeed all about "Law and Order" and Constitutional rights.

Court order, they have to follow it, if not then they are the typical Democrat hypocrites. Either way they lose.

Good move Rahm!

“The memoranda indicate that, on several occasions from July 8 through July 17, Slahi was interrogated by a masked interrogator called “Mr. X.” On July 8, 2003 Slahi was interrogated by Mr. X and was “exposed to various lighting patterns and rock music, to the tune of Drowning Pool’s ‘Let The Bodies Hit [the] Floor.’”

The horrors!!!

“Slahi is the 34th Guantánamo detainee ordered freed since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled detainees could challenge their incarceration in federal court, but his name was already well known because of investigations into detainee abuse. “

If I’m not mistaken this is the same Clinton appointee who sprung Webster Hubbell and exonerated a few campaign finance thugs.
