Despite having authored two autobiographies, Barack Obama has never written about his most important executive experience. From 1995 to 1999, he led an education foundation called the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC), and remained on the board until 2001. The group poured more than $100 million into the hands of community organizers and radical education activists.
The CAC was the brainchild of Bill Ayers, a founder of the Weather Underground in the 1960s. Among other feats, Mr. Ayers and his cohorts bombed the Pentagon, and he has never expressed regret for his actions. Barack Obama's first run for the Illinois State Senate was launched at a 1995 gathering at Mr. Ayers's home.
Obama dismissed Mr. Ayers as just "a guy who lives in my neighborhood," and "not somebody who I exchange ideas with on a regular basis." Yet documents in the CAC archives make clear that Mr. Ayers and Mr. Obama were partners in the CAC. Those archives are housed in the Richard J. Daley Library at the University of Illinois at Chicago ...
The Chicago Annenberg Challenge was created ostensibly to improve Chicago's public schools. The funding came from a national education initiative by Ambassador Walter Annenberg. In early 1995, Mr. Obama was appointed the first chairman of the board, which handled fiscal matters. Mr. Ayers co-chaired the foundation's other key body, the "Collaborative," which shaped education policy.

Program Will Launch Nationwide Effort to Promote Civic Responsibility through Civility and Respect in Politics and Government
SIMI VALLEY, CA: The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation announced today that the Annenberg Foundation has donated ten million dollars for educational outreach. The national program will focus on teaching students of all ages, K-12 through college, the importance of civility and responsibility in the government arena. Students will learn the importance of participating in the democratic process and working together - as Ronald Reagan did with government leaders of all political parties - for the common good. In honor of the Annenberg Foundations generous commitment to excellence in education, the Librarys Learning Center will be named the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Presidential Learning Center.
The friendship Ronnie and I shared with Walter and Lee Annenberg goes back many, many years, said former First Lady Nancy Reagan. To know that students of today and tomorrow, in every state, will benefit from this wonderful gift means the world to me.
President Reagan stood for bold ideas but was always able to maintain civility and respect with those who opposed his views, said Frederick J. Ryan, Jr., Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation. Today, people on both sides of the political aisle feel that there is too much divisiveness and negativity in the political process at all levels. Ronald Reagan taught us that no matter what your beliefs are, in times of need we can work together and accomplish great things. The Walter and Leonore Annenberg Presidential Learning Center will take a leadership role and utilize the unique resources of the Reagan Library and the power of the internet to create programs which will teach students about the Presidency and the ideas which make our country great - ideas which unite us, not perpetuate our differences.

Reagan seemed to think it was a good idea.
Probably would roll in his grave if he knew that his money had been grabbed by Bill Ayers.
he has always been a communist...well communism for everyone else but he has rights! we should all become community organizers....bleed the country dry...just like Obama..
100 million is a LOT of money. Where did it come from? Every working adult American send in a dollar? I don’t think so.
and now, in control of student loans
University employees and high ranking government and media employees are facing growing difficulties protecting Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ayers.
"[S]peaking publicly for the first time about the investigation, former FBI agents have told Village Voice Media the basis for their belief that the Weather Underground was behind McDonnells murder. The agents have revealed that two credible eyewitnesses both former left-wing radicals tied to the Weathermen gave detailed statements to investigators in the 1970s alleging that Dohrn and Howard Machtinger, another member of the group, were personally involved in organizing the deadly attack."
The media completely glossed over Barry’s close personal and professional relationship with Domestic Terrorist Bill Ayers. It was Barry’s only substantive job prior to politics. Hopefully the public has finally gotten the message of who they actually elected and just how craven their Dem representatives are who enabled and caved in to this Administration.
And the MONEY came from WHERE?
It was not evident in the entire article...
There's 10 - where's the OTHER 90?
Thanks for posting. Kurtz series of articles on the Chicago Annenberg Challange were posted by FRs prior to Obama’s election and I felt that they were so significant. They are still posted in my webpage kept as historical reference which you have to scroll to after lead material ( http://www.theusmat.com/ )
When Kurtz appeared on a Chicago local talk show WGN’s well respected host, Prof Milt Rosenberg, there was an attempt to shut the program down by jamming the call in lines. This was to me to be a harbinger of what is to come, and unfortunately I was correct.
