More negative consequences for Rep. Bart Stupak, D-MI, flowing from his agreeing to support Obamacare tonight following President Obama's issuance of an Executive Order allegedly insuring that no federal funds will be used to pay for abortions.
"This Wednesday night is our third annual Campaign for Life Gala, where we were planning to honor Congressman Stupak for his efforts to keep abortion-funding out of health care reform- we will no longer be doing so," said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List Fund.
"By accepting this deal from the most pro-abortion President in American history, Stupak has not only failed to stand strong for unborn children, but also for his constituents and pro-life voters across the country," she said.
"Let me be clear: any representative, including Rep. Stupak, who votes for this healthcare bill can no longer call themselves 'pro-life.' The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund will not endorse, or support in any capacity, any Member of Congress who votes for this bill in any future election," Dannenfelser said.
For these Members, it will be a quick downhill slide to defeat in November," she said.
The problem is simple, according to Dannenfelser: "The executive order on abortion funding does absolutely nothing to fix the problems presented by the health care reform bill that the House will vote on this evening. The very idea should offend all pro-life Members of Congress. An executive order can be rescinded at any time at the President's whim, and the courts could and have a history of trumping executive orders. Most importantly, pro-abortion Representatives have admitted the executive order is meaningless."
The Susan B. Anthony List describes itself as "leading the fight against abortion funding in health care reform for over a year, spending nearly $2 million on a grassroots campaign of targeted television and radio ads, 1.3 million automated calls, 70,000 patch-through constituent calls, 1.2 million letters and petitions to Congress, two media and grassroots tours in pro-life Democratic districts, television ads in six districts and comprehensive polling in 20 pro-life Democratic districts."
We should send Stupak 30 silver (i.e., pre-1965) dimes.
We should send Stupak 30 silver (i.e., pre-1965) dimes.
Was the healthcare bill really worth your soul? It sells cheaply these days, I guess.
I STILL do not understand what Stupak was supposedly trying to achieve and what the Executive Order will achieve.
They keep saying something about how there has always been a ban on using federal dollars to fund abortions. How can that be?
Doesn’t the federal govt. LIBERALLY fund Planned Parenthood, a big time abortion provider? Also, many, many abortions are performed on women who are on Medicaid. Who pays for those? They damned sure don’t spend the money for their abortions.
Beware of this man also why did vote it out of house if he did not agree with it??? It how game is played just like Stupak he set on side line last to make it passed and when they had the vote he voted no. We need to send them all home for good.....most here thought Stupak was telling the true and now we no he was not. Last night there was You Tube vidio of Stupak saying he vote for Obamacare even if it was not changed. He did not no he was being recorded and it was some time ago at town hall meeeting. I say send him all other home for good.
I love it when these creeps encounter some blow back.
Yes, their enthusiasm for abortion is difficult to understand.
Stupak:
Proving once again that a Dem is a dem first, and an American second.
Party before country...Just like the communist party...Gee...what a coincidence.
>> Yes, their enthusiasm for abortion is difficult to understand. <<
Yeah almost as if they took a copy of “A Modest Proposal” and decided it was a cookbook and they were hungry.
True. Why hasn't the happened?
Good for them.
What you say may be true. But I would like to think that the activism of a small but dedicated group of Chicago Tea Partiers had an effect. Lipinski’s office was flooded with calls. A group of about 200 were in front of his office Friday afternoon, and this time there were satellite news trucks there to report on it. The rally was covered on local news. He’s a Chicago Democrat, but at least he voted correctly this time. Till we can vote in November, we all need to continue this kind of pressure. Call their offices, get people in front of their offices and let the news media know you are going to be there.
Stupak co-chairs the pro-life caucus...Call Congressman Chris Smith’s office and demand Stupak (stupid) be removed.
Stupak is no better than the rest of the anti-life Dems. He sold his soul to the devil (0bama) by allowing the bill to go ahead with amendments based on a non-binding executive order that gets trumped by the legislation itself. What a moron!
Stupak needs to go as much as the rest of the Democratic caucus who voted for this monstrosity. The federal government has no business funding abortions and that is exactly what happened last night. Shameful, especially for all Catholics in that group including Stupak and Pelosi (she is really only Catholic in name only).
He knew exactly what he was doing and also a co-chair of the pro-life caucus. He also got a bishop tangled in this mess. This was soooooooo evil and the start of Holy Week and on Sunday. Him and Obama laughed at the Catholic Church and all pro-lifers. Call his Bishop and the Pro-life Caucus and raise hell.
The myth of the “pro-life democrat” is just that...a myth
I am taking back my prayers for him too.
When the choice came between socialism and pro-life, Stupak chose “S” for Stupak Socialism, and I suspect that the people of MI will approve of his vote.
And if amnesty is passed before that, your countdown will be a waste of time.
