First term Democrat Nye voting against health care bill (BIG "NO" PICKUP!)
Hampton Roads ^ | 3-20-10 | Bill Bartel

Posted on 03/20/2010 7:20:52 PM PDT by icwhatudo

U.S. Rep. Glenn Nye announced Saturday night he is voting against against the Democratic health care bill today, saying it doesn’t do enough to lower the cost of health care.

“Over the past year, I have spoken with countless small business owners, families, medical professionals, and average citizens across Virginia’s 2nd District, and it became very clear that this bill was not the right solution for Virginia’s health care challenges,” Nye said in a written statement. “There were many strong points in this bill that I would have been happy to support individually, but the package as a whole had serious problems.”

The Hill had Nye as undecided.

I believe Oberstar was part of that group 15 lawmakers upset that House-passed increases in Medicare reimbursements for local hospitals were removed from the legislation, but the link requires a login. From the search; Oberstar: He'll vote yes on health care reform Duluth News Tribune - ‎2 hours ago‎ http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/event/account:login/desturl/event/article/id/163494/ ... to the bill until he was assured today that a fix would be made to a Medicare formula that he said unfairly reimbursed Minnesota health care providers. ^ They can't change the Senate bill, which means Oberstar would be opposing quality of care if he votes for it

saying it doesn't do enough to lower the cost of health care.
The way for the federal government to lower the cost of health care is to A) get out of health care and stay out of health care, and B) tort reform. Thanks icwhatudo.

This should be a rough weekend for Obama. He picked Kansas to win the NCAA basketball tourney and they were eliminated today by Northern Iowa (lol).

Obamacare will lose too.

My guess is these “no” votes coming at the last minute probably indicates they have the votes to pass the bill, and some are being allowed by Pigloswine to vote no.

I have been reading this..it was also posted on C4P..

“leaders now list the Orange County Democrat as a “no” vote.”

She is so far no where to be found(I guess she is in hiding) but if she is a NO vote that is huge because I pretty much concluded that she would be a yes vote, being promised illegals would get health care, etc, but if she is a NO vote then WOW that is a shock

Roll Call sez:

As their whip efforts narrow to just a handful of Members, House Democratic leaders are facing an unlikely problem vote: Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.).

Sanchez was nowhere to be found on Saturday — she was in Florida on a fundraising jaunt, two Democratic sources said — and while leaders expected her to return for the Sunday vote on final passage, they weren't assured. What's more, leaders now list the Orange County Democrat as a "no" vote.

It will give my church something to pray about during service tomorrow.

I'm going to stick around long enough to light a candle. I had wanted to stop by the Perpetual Adoration parish on our way home, but after the abortion clinic vigil, the rally on the Hill, and tearing out carpet in my parents' house I was just too tired. I'm only online to keep from seeing the woman at the clinic's face any more.

They DON'T have the votes which is why they're having a late-night arm wrestling session with the Stupak people.

One NO vote earlier today explicitly said Pelosi did not release him.

Thanks Civ.

Good points that would actually eliminate most of the problems.

“The people are not bound to comply with any unconstitutional act of Congress!”
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I certainly agree in principle but the people have been going along with unconstitutional government for generations. How are we to suddenly put a stop to it now? If this passes it may be the worst example but certainly not the first by any means.

You’ve posted this on just about every thread pertaining to this horror.

It will not be irrelevant. There will either have to be a revolt/insurrection or the SCOTUS will have to stop it. Neither is a guarantee. Meanwhile, businesses close, people go broke paying for this or from having the IRS confiscate their money and property. It will not be irrelevant when elderly people are denied care and left to die the way they are in Canada and the UK, or left laying in their own waste without food or water for days. It will not be irrelevant when you can’t afford your insurance premiums and can’t get a Medicaid doctor. It will not be irrelevant when your doctor retires and you can’t even find another doctor because a full third of them have retired or changed professions. It will not be irrelevant when your granny is told she can’t have that hip operation and so will remain in a wheelchair for the rest of her life, which then means she has to come live with you because there’s no such thing as space in a nursing home or home health aides anymore.

Think about it.
