KILL THE BILL!
And yet Fox news was reporting as of yesterday the socialists have the votes.
Undecided my rear end. Any CongressCritter who claims is still undecided is simply waiting to see what payoff they will get.
Anyone with 1/8 of a brain realizes this bill and the way it is forced through is unconstitutional.
The content of any final bill is irrelevant! Any federal version of health care is unconstitutional since Article 1 Section 8 does not specifically grant Congress the power to regulate health care! The people are not bound to comply with any unconstitutional act of Congress! This is the point people need to hammer home with their Congress critters!
Make those calls....go to DC....and PRAY!
They will get just enough to get the bill through when just enough get their bribe.
I hate to be a skeptic but I think it’s a done deal in the congress and just awaiting the lawsuits that are surely to come.
I forgot we’re on Daylight Savings Time already, so the last sentence should read 7 a.m. EDT.
I’m close enough to have some coffee first.
Good grief- the count is all over the place...I think we’re going to learn the final deal at Stupak’s 11 am press conference.
KommieKare BE GONE!!!
If this thing goes down, my prediction is we will see droves of Dems switching over to the GOP, just like what happened in 1994.
All this means to me is there are a few dozen Dems waiting for their big payoff.
If my rep, Jim Matheson, votes yes on this, it sure won’t be from my lack of trying.
I’ve called his office every ten days since the house passed their version of Obamacare to make sure he was voting NO...which he was. Until his brother was nominated to the federal bench a couple weeks ago, that is.
That said, I emailed him several hours ago. Among other things I told him this:
“There are many good reasons to oppose this vile bill, and I imagine you’ve heard them all, I can give you a reason that you haven’t heard. Until now.
Sir, any fair and impartial reading of the Senate bill makes it clear that the desired end result is the dissolving of private insurance companies, within a few years. This much seems assured. And that is of no moment here. It creates an unintended consequence, as so many ill conceived legislation does.
Insurance company shares are among the most widely held in pension funds, via institutional buys. Both public and private pension funds hold these, as insurance is one of the most regulated industries in the country. They are regarded as “safe” for this reason, thus a wise pension holding.
But what happens to these pension funds if these insurance companies go out of business? (Hint: PBGC=taxpayer bailout) And then what happens to the non-pension shareholders? Well, they are to be made whole by the “insurer of the insurance companies.” Anybody remember who that is? Let’s take a walk down memory lane, shall we?
Ah yes...AIG. Yep, that AIG. The company for whom the taxpayers are the guarantors of their funds and payouts.
Who else but DC politicians could come up with legislation to reduce an industry’s profits, or to drive them out of business completely in order to ‘save’ taxpayers money? Only to realize, after the fact, that the entities killed off will have their losses borne by those same taxpayers!”
sometimes, you can’t make this shit up
Their vote is a career-altering decision.
If they vote no, the wrath of Nancy and Barack are going to make their political lives miserable.
[Rock]
[meet]
[Hard place]
If they vote yes, they get to change careers when the voters vote them out.
People are forgetting that despite the heated and passionate "Town Halls" of last summer, a majority of Democrats passed this debacle just 2 1/2 months ago.
In case anyone should EVER forget what this is really about , your words “The Democratic Party’s attempted conquest of the healthcare industry” puts it in crystal clear terms. THAT IS what it’s all about. We’ve been hearing
“takeover” for too long, and that makes it sound like it’s just a provisional “we’ll do this for awhile, then you can return later to run it, private sector”.....this is NOT what they’re about: it is a conquest, because like most wannabe revolutionaries, this bunch in DC needs to start
conquering and dismantling at one and the same time.
And while we’re at it, another tired locution we continue to hear (and heard first in the days of the aborted HillaryCare effort), is “this is ONE SIXTH of the American Economy!”. It probably wasn’t then, either, but it certainly isn’t NOW. In many ways the ObamaCare bill would be taking over, effectively , the ENTIRE American Economy.
Some good news here:
This Is What the White House and Nancy Pelosi Are Hearing in Their Left Ear [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
From the abortion lobby .... NARAL president issues the following statement:
Pro-choice Americans stand strongly alongside our allies in Congress who are resisting Mr. Stupak’s outrageous last-minute attempts to hijack health-reform legislation. The public has grown tired of this unnecessary drama and wants to see Congress move forward with a bill that is not tainted with Stupak-like provisions. Negotiations with Mr. Stupak are a non-starter for NARAL Pro-Choice America and pro-choice women and men across this country.
If ...
1) Dems don’t have the House votes.
and
2) Stupak is insisting on the Senate voting on any abortion “fix” enrollment corrections bill first, which is the only guarantee it is real.
and
3) The feminists are screaming.
and
4) The White House/Pelosi have nothing compelling to offer to get a) the feminists to hush up and b) enough of the Democratic caucus in the Senate to sign onto whatever Stupak asked for.
.... this all could be falling apart for Barack Obama right now.
Whatever happens, this is remarkable 1) Yes, that the White House/etc. is so condescending toward the will of the people here. But also that 2) with all their power in Washington, the White House/Pelosi find themselves in this situation having to make some pro-life Democrat from Michigan satisfied in late March 2010.

I will be there, but I am under no illusion about the “undecideds.” According to Rick Santorum, this is just a ruse. More than likely, they will vote with Pelosi if their votes are really, really, really, needed. Santorum’s recommendation is for them to vote “no” and then hide because they will be sought out and their arms twisted.
KEEP THE CALLS UP! DC OFFICE LOCAL OFFICE
Hold your own street protest in front of your reps local offices. Or busy street corners. Try and get the local media to cover it. Hammer the Medicare/SS issue, nothing like mad grannies and gramps.
This is from a 2007 contact list of congressional aides. Some might not be there any longer, but worth a try. The ones on the one post are senate aides, a few have bounced back, its worth the effort to clog up their email system along with the phones, and 1/3rd of these senators are up for re-election.
Mail must be inspected for anthrax takes 2 weeks, so if you snail mail send a post card

CODE RED Contact list http://www.nrcc.org/CodeRed/targets/
Remember they are all being offered BRIBES for their votes. Ask them how much their bribe price is.
The National Republican Congressional Committee has published a target list on health care. In addition to continuing to contact the five Tennessee Democrat Congressmen, you can go http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/94697.aspx to contact some of these targets. Much of the talk following Obamas announcement has focused on how to defeat this second bill through reconciliation, but that is misleading because the first step to defeating Obamacare is not by concentrating on defeating the fixer bill but by defeating the Senate bill in the House when it goes to the floor for an up-or-down vote on Sunday March 21st.
Good idea from the bloggers at Hillbuzz:

They offer specifics and links on how to put pressure on Dem DONORS, who have private numbers for legislators who may have taken their phones off the hook.

And here are toll-free numbers we can use to call any Senators or Reps.
At the first number below you must wait through a tape recording urging you to tell your Rep or Senator to vote yes for the health care bill. Just hang on and when the recording is over, you will get the Capitol operator. Just ask for your Rep or Senators office. Then you will either talk to an aid or have the chance to leave a message for him/her to vote NO on the health care bill.
When you use the second number and the Capitol operator comes on, just ask for your Rep or Senators office. Every time I use this number I get the Rep or Senators answer machine, so it may be set up that way all the time...to go to their answer machine. Either way you can leave a message to vote NO on the health care bill!
We need to use these toll free numbers that have been set up for the health care/ BO supporters and illegals to use! After all they are FREE!
