At Least Three Dozen Democrats Still Undecided on Healthcare Vote: CBS News and The Hill
Saturday, March 20, 2010 | Kristinn

Posted on 03/20/2010 4:46:40 AM PDT by kristinn

CBS News and The Hill, a D.C. newspaper focused on Congress, both report this morning that there are at least 36 undecided Democrat Congressmen going into Sunday's vote on the Democratic Party's attempted conquest of the healthcare industry.

The Hill reports:

According to The Hill's whip list, there are 36 Democrats who will vote no, leaning no or likely no and another three dozen are undecided or unclear. Pelosi does not have a lot of breathing room.

As Cantor says in his memo, 38 is the magic number for the GOP: "38 Democrats are needed to defeat a government take-over of health care."

On The Early Show at 7 a.m. EST, CBS News reported their count showed 44 undecided Democrats.

I don’t care how many times they change this bill, the underlying premise of it is completely unconstitutional. Any person elected to Congress or the Senate either knows this or has never had any intention of adhering to their oath of office.

Hasn't stopped them before

No capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in Proportion to the Census or Enumeration herein before directed to be taken

I echo your prayer, FA52. Pride and arrogance DO precede a fall. I pray that God will honor not only OUR prayers, but also the prayers and actions of our forefathers, who based this wonderful nation on HIM!

If Fox was truly conservative, they would not keep referring to this as “healtcare reform.” I ALWAYS refer to it as a TAKEOVER. Sometimes I think they (particularly the females) are more concerned about the depth of their tans or the glossiness of their lipstick than they are about our very country going down in flames before their eyes. Guess it takes a lot of life experience AND a knowledge of history to see this for the train wreck it is.

They are all liars. All of them want it but none of them want to vote for it (because they like their jobs). So as usual this thing will pass by one vote allowing the maximum number of dems to vote safely no.

This is just a battle, not the whole war. We need to guard against becoming to discouraged if we lose this one and prepare for the next.

Exactly! They know we will not go to the streets with guns. There will not be civil war. They are safe. So why not?? When I was a youngster, I could never figure out why so many got into box cars so peacefully in Germany. Now that I am living through the same thing here, I can understand how it happened. It is hard to pick up a weapon and use it knowing you are facing certain death. We hope BEYOND REASON someone else will do it for us, or some Divine intervention will take place. God helps those that help themselves, and sometimes it requires the ultimate sacrifice if you truly love your children and grandchildren.
Maybe it will take a Grandfather soaked in gasoline lighting himself on fire on the Whitehouse lawn to get this country off it’s @$$.

Their vote is a career-altering decision.

If they vote no, the wrath of Nancy and Barack are going to make their political lives miserable.

If they vote yes, they get to change careers when the voters vote them out.

When the debate on the Medicare prescription drug bill ended, Hastert called for a 15-minute vote. When the time was nearly up, he was some votes short. There were about 5 hold-outs. The vote period got extended. And extended. And extended.

The 15-minute vote ran for almost 3 hours and finally ended about 4:00 a.m. The backroom arm-twisting must have been painful. But Hastert emerged with enough votes plus a couple of extra ones to pass the bill.

No one, that I read about, ever admitted to what their pay-off was, nor whether medical attention and splints/casts were needed for the twisted elbows.

False hope - I am sorry for my cynicism.

People are forgetting that despite the heated and passionate "Town Halls" of last summer, a majority of Democrats passed this debacle just 2 1/2 months ago.

Morning, Mom! What’s the difference between getting the 216 YES votes and invoking the Slaughter Rule? I’m very confused. And if they pass it tomorrow, doesn’t it have to go back to the Senate where it could be tied up? And can’t the courts intervene, too? As you see I am trying to be hopeful in this weekend of gloom.

In case anyone should EVER forget what this is really about , your words “The Democratic Party’s attempted conquest of the healthcare industry” puts it in crystal clear terms. THAT IS what it’s all about. We’ve been hearing
“takeover” for too long, and that makes it sound like it’s just a provisional “we’ll do this for awhile, then you can return later to run it, private sector”.....this is NOT what they’re about: it is a conquest, because like most wannabe revolutionaries, this bunch in DC needs to start
conquering and dismantling at one and the same time.
And while we’re at it, another tired locution we continue to hear (and heard first in the days of the aborted HillaryCare effort), is “this is ONE SIXTH of the American Economy!”. It probably wasn’t then, either, but it certainly isn’t NOW. In many ways the ObamaCare bill would be taking over, effectively , the ENTIRE American Economy.

And yet Fox news was reporting as of yesterday the socialists have the votes.

Indeed and now with the defection of the NY Congressman, they claim to have 217 votes. "It ain't over till it's over".

Nazi Pelosi would have brought the vote to the floor immediately if she already had the votes.
