This could be very big. Rep. Jason Altmire (D., Penn.) has done his darndest to position himself as the deciding vote on health-care reform, and I predicted earlier this week that he would end up voting with the majority either way.
Congressman Jason Altmire will vote against the latest version of health care reform when the U.S. House of Representatives votes on the bill this weekend.
Altmire confirmed that he has decided to vote no in a telephone conversation with KDKA political editor Jon Delano.
The McCandless Democrat is expected to post a statement on his website later today.
In a live interview on KDKA-TV News at 6 on Tuesday, Altmire said his constituents would help him make the final decision.
"I'm deciding it by doing everything I possibly can to hear what they have to say," he said. "The rallies at my office, the phone calls, emails, and letters that are coming in to Washington and in the district."
Altmire voted against the House health care plan last November.
But again, who knows!
I hope you folks are right. Serioustly, I get sick to my stomach imagining what this boondoggle will do to our healthcare system and our economy.”
It’s our freedom they want...
She has the votes....that is why he is comfortable doing this...no doubt.
My cynical side says that she either has the votes, or he’s using this as a bargaining ploy. If he establishes his “no” right now, the cost to buy him off if it comes down to the wire just went to the moon.
Did you see Boehners letter to Pelosi...asking that every member stand in the well and announce his/her vote....good move if he gets her to go along.
They are asking quite a few people to commit political suicide.
Stay strong.
“Its our freedom they want...”
They want to rule over us like feudal lords of the 15th century. They will have to shoot me first.
Thanks- No- missed it- will go look at it now- getting ready for Levin...
Still breathing.
I still think if they had the votes we’d be watching the vote right now. They put a date on the vote to pressure undecideds.
They have members who were very comfortable taking the Obama ‘present’ path,in this case by not making up their mind. The Sunday vote was to put pressure on these people. They felt they could turn enough. I will wait till Sunday and see if indeed they vote. They probably don’t if it means defeat.
@jmartpolitico No to Yes goes Rep. Suzanne Kosmas (D-FL), one of the freshman who got whipped hard. Old T Feeney seat in central FL. 3/19 5:24 P.M. -
@philipaklein Altmire’s “no” could also mean that Pelosi doesn’t need his vote anymore. 3/19 4:58 P.M. -
@JoeNBC Lynch is NO on HC bill, insists Democrats have the votes to pass it. 3/19 3:52 P.M. - http://pwire.at/9NXea3

I predict it passes. The talking heads on the ground in DC are beginning to say they expect it to pass. Scary.
They’ve been claiming they have the votes since the senate bill passed. We’re nearly 3 months to the day and still no vote.
just watched Beck’s show and there was a congressman from CA who says two dems from CA just got the water turned on for their districts....just in time to buy their votes. talk about feudal lords....they control WATER!
“What is your source?”
History. The same thing happened when Pelosi squeaked out the first House bill.
Do I have a hotline to Congress? No. But my guess is not based on much less than the media counts. It is taking time to finalize the payoffs to the so-called “undecideds”.
One of us will be right...ping me if it passes I'll eat a big dish of crow....but I don't think I'll get that ping...:-)
jeri thompson was the talking head, and her face said it all. she believes it will pass
I just love you Dog.
Being FR’s optimist on lost causes comes easy for me...I have been convinced since Tora Bora...Osama Bin Laden is alive....ask ASA vet...:-)
Don’t be starting no rumors....:-)
