Based on the current WHIP counts, and assuming all of the firm/leaning "No" and "Yes" votes remain unchanged and that all GOP members vite "no", the democrats can only have 37 defections to eek out a 216 to 215 victory.
Right now, the GOP can count 36 solid defectors who will vote against Obamacare. So they need to pick up 2 more votes of the 47 undecideds to
But when you look at those 47 undecideds, it comes down to the following 5 Democrats who originally votes no and that will make or break the vote -- The rest are basically assumed to vote yes:
1. Lincoln Davis (Tenn) -- Went from "no" to undecided. But the Governor of Tennessee is putting the heat on him to vote no.
2. Jason Altmire (PA) -- Has publicly criticized the Slaughter rule and voted no in committee and on floor on the original bill.
3. Pete Defazio (NY) -- Announced today that he's voting against. DeFazio also voted agasint the stimulus bill.
4. Glenn Nye (VA) -- Nye voted no in on the first bill. He is also in a conservative district that includes Virginia Beach and Norfolk (basically the Eastern Shore). Nye is also in a tough re-election race.
5. Suzanne Kosmos (Fla)-- She's getting hammered. She's a freshman from New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and she eeked out a victory in a conservative district that McCain carried over Obama in 2008. Her job in on the line.
Nye, Defazio and Altmire are our best bets. Please call their district and congressional offices as well as the offices of the other three!
Again, assuming the numbers above, the GOP need 2 of these 5 to eek out a 216-215 vote.

I e-mailed my congresscritter, Mr Altmire, this morning urging him to vote against the monstrosity.
bttt
I dont trust them. They’re politicians AND they’re Democrats. I’ll believe their no votes when I see them.
Are you sure you mean DeFazio because he’s my rep here in Oregon. Unless there’s 2 of them.
Cindie
Cindie — Yoo are correct — It’s DeFazio of Oregon.
There are a million different whip counts out there...what to believe...Oy
I have four extra tickets for the Robbie Knievel (son of Evil Knievel) event at the Ford Center next weekend in Beaumont, Texas, if anybody wants them.
Robbie is going to try to jump over 1,000 Obama supporters with a Caterpillar D-9 bulldozer.
Should be a good time.
PING!
yep. He’s against the bill because there’s not enough money for rural medicare patients! Hah! There’s not going to be money for ANY medicare patient. I wonder if the elderly still think medicare was a good idea.
Just read that Altmire is now a strong NO.
LOL! Like 4,000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean, a good start!
All of the rats are running scared of the Chicago thugs.
Thanks for the post!

This evening, Governor Rick Perry conducted a telephone town hall meeting.
Our residence was one of the ones chosen to participate with questions re; Obamacare.
My father took the call, and he said that Perry indicated that no way in h*ll was Texas going to be screwed over with Obamacare.
He said that Perry said that the first order of business for the next 72 hours was to go to the governor's site, get a list of representative and call. http://www.rickperry.org/
Please help out!

The time has come to express your rights and remind the federal government that it was created to serve the states and the people, not the other way around. We must stop the government takeover of our healthcare system. One-size-fits-all mandates from Washington will not fix our healthcare industry, which needs tort reform as a start to bringing down costs.
Today, we are asking you to call these Texas representatives and ask tell them to vote "NO" on Obamacare. Together, let's make Washington listen to what the people actually want.

Texas Metros Continue to Show Strong Economic Indicators Wed, 03/17/2010 -
Governor Perry continues to keep focus on the Texas economy as the most important issue facing our state. With record job creation, low taxes, sweeping tort reform, and the most business-friendly environment in the nation, it's clear that fiscal discipline under Gov. Perry is keeping Texas as an economic driver leading the nation out of recession.
The Brookings Institution today released its quarterly report on the nation's 100 largest metropolitan areas. The overall performance rankings are based on indicators like unemployment rates, housing markets, and gross metropolitan product.
Call them and fax them them instead of telling us you don’t trust them.

And the proof is going to be in the pudding...... Until we see the NO vote ( and remember with a liberal a no may mean they really thing the bill is not liberal enough) there is no real deal to save the nation. We should not make heroes out of these dems just yet.
