The vote tally on health care reform is starting to look like the Dow.
Just when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi seemed to be one vote shy of the 216 she needs for health care reform to pass, a Democrat who voted for the bill last year says he's switching his vote to no.

Not principled opposition - just another political whore looking for his payoff.
“Insufficient spending”
He should have no worries there. The Dims will fix that.
Don’t care if he’s a whore or a saint, VOTE NO!
Can you explain....I was under the impression that they had found a way to pass this no matter how many votes they had.
Vote no, then leave the building!
props to him, then.
I REALLY don’t like this circus with Nancy Pelosi bending over backwards on the trapeze, trying to attract votes.
Waiting for the right bribe?
It’s not just Granny and Gramps that is getting whacked so illegals can have free health care.

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
The Slaughter "fig leaf" would still require a majority vote (the idea being that they could claim they voted for X when in reality it was really for Y), but the like vampires in the sunlight, the public focus on the process is making that less attractive as a dodge.
DeFasiio can be assured that his bread will get buttered this week end.
Rush said there are 30-40 votes that are unknown. This is now a known one.
Yes, you’re probably right. Still, if their at this point and trying to turn Cao, then they’re just plain short. All it takes is one.
Yep. At this point either the holdout rats are jockeying for payoffs or Pelosi is moving the pieces around in order to protect those rats most vulnerable in upcoming elections, that’s all. We are having this massive enactment of socialism shoved down our throats. It will be “interesting” to see what item on Hussein’s agenda of the destruction of America as we know her will be up next. I am interested to see how quickly they feel emboldened to just show their hole cards.
Whoa! That’s a Big Deal. Maybe this isn’t a goner.
not necessarily. from ramesh at nro:

Apparently he has a history of talking big and then folding.
Oh how I would love to be a fly on the wall at all the behind-the-scenes arm twisting sessions going on within the Democrat caucus right now.
My hunch is that DeFazio is tired of the “no” votes getting paid off to switch while guys like him who have been on board from the beginning are getting nothing. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more of this.
They all should in order to get their piece of the action.
if they can try the “deem” tactic, don’t be surprised by the invention of “recess passage,” because the republicans have had recess appointments.
He’s probably just taking the rational position that there is more in it for his district if he’s puts himself forward as a “no” instead of a “yes”. He’ll switch back as soon as he gets an appropriate amount of pork or other considerations for his district.
After all, would Nebraska have made out nearly as well as they did if Ben Nelson had never opposed the bill?
