I think there are still enough Democrats that are concerned about these numbers that this weakens Obama's arm twisting abilities. I don't know if it will be enough to block this or not. You are correct though that passing this will be political suicide. With flowery language, they are able to pretty this thing up a little right now, but the reality of this monstrosity will come to light if it is passed. For instance the day private insurance companies are required to sign up people with expensive preexisting conditions, is the same day all private insurance companies get out of the business. What investor is going to keep their money in a company which is required to give it away on a sure bad bet?

Sadly, there are still quite a few who are true believers. They worship this guy and no one can change their minds.

My only consolation, should this alleged health care reform pass, is that those true believers may eventually find out what they have done, particularly when the taxes and fees start hitting them in the wallet or pocketbook. And when Obie is done using them, they will be discarded by their messiah as easily as a used tissue.

We can demand anything we want but that doesn't mean the legislature will vote on it, which they have to do. Personally I think there should have been a recall or impeachment clause of the President and legislature by the people written into the constitution.

The founding fathers counted on the separate branches checking and balancing each other, they warned against political parties because this is what happens when you have a legislature that is loyal to a party instead of the country and the constitution.

That goes for the RINOs in the GOP also. They are for keeping the GOP going and to hell with the people who voted them into office. Not as bad as the dimwits but still a problem for us.

One of the best things that could happen to this country would be the abolishing of the party system, which should never had been started to begin with.

I am actually waking up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat worrying about what is happening to our country. Last night I had these thoughts, so please humor me...
I am a Reagan Cold War Vet. I was is basic training at 17. The closest I came to any action were deployments in support of Barbados and Grenada operations. Mostly I had a pretty cush job and I enjoyed my time. I can't hold a candle to my military brothers and sisters who served in real wars before and after me. For those brave warriors, I am forever grateful. But I joined primarily for one reason; I felt a call to serve my country.
30 years later, I have that feeling again.
My idea:
A Call to Arms...well kind of.
If instead of the traditional Washington Tea Party type protests, what if every DD-214 carrying person over the generations with the same tug at the heart and disdain for this tyranny and contempt for the constitution met in Washington and marched in military formation carrying broomsticks instead of rifles. Come on, we all still remember how to march, close ranks, and drill. If all were in similar garb, (camo pants, white t-shirt, black boots) and perhaps a beret indicating branch of service, and we were 5000 strong, and marching in ranks, I think the show of force would be very impressive. Get a few names like Col. Oliver North and Gen Schwartzkopf to join in and it could really have impact.
I think this would show two things:

• We can and will organize and revolt if we have to, and
• Our commitment to liberty democracy did not end when we hung up the uniform

Having my own son serving now, it makes me ill to think everything all Veterans have done over the generations to make this the most Blessed and greatest country in the world can go to hell so quickly because of the three stupid words, "Hope and Change".
So if someone with greater organizion skills than saw any merit to my idea, perhaps they could plant a seed. Maybe, call it the "Broomstick Brigade".
So that's my $.02
