The Democrats are assaulting the very pillars of our democracy. As the debate on Obamacare reaches the long, painful end, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is confronting a political nightmare. She may not have the 216 votes necessary to pass the Senate's health care bill in the House.
Hence, Mrs. Pelosi and her congressional Democratic allies are seriously considering using a procedural ruse to circumvent the traditional constitutional process. Led by Rep. Louise M. Slaughter, New York Democrat and chairman of the House Rules Committee, the new plan - called the "Slaughter Solution" - is not to pass the Senate version on an up-or-down vote. Rather, it is to have the House "deem" that the legislation was passed and then have members vote directly on a series of "sidecar" amendments to fix the things it does not like.
This would enable House Democrats to avoid going on the record voting for provisions in the Senate bill - the "Cornhusker Kickback," the "Louisiana Purchase," the tax on high-cost so-called "Cadillac" insurance plans - that are reviled by the public or labor-union bosses. If the reconciliation fixes pass, the House can send the Senate bill to President Obama for his signature without ever having had a formal up-or-down vote on the underlying legislation.

I have been saying for a while that Hussein will not serve out his term. He will be impeached by a republican house and senate and the will of the people.
Wish I could be there! Please be vigilant. Coincidentally, or not, Saturday is also the day chosen for a huge anti-war rally.
Theoretically yes. Practically, no.
We have effectively been without a Constitution since FDR. We are at the tipping point now. If this passes, then our constitution will have been revoked. Our coins will have to have the words "Liberty" and "In God We Trust" replaced with "Tyranny" and "The Government Knows Best."
About the worst thing we could do, IMO. Look, if we are able to eke out majorities in either of the houses (not a guarantee by any means) we would look exactly like the moonbats who are trying to get Bush and especially Cheney any way they can.
First we have to fight to stop this thing, and it is stoppable as we all know.
Second, if it does pass, God forbid, we need to focus on killing it and there are a lot of options; nullification, defunding, outright repeal etc.
Let’s not turn into right-wing moonbats. The Bamster will fall at the ballot box and good riddance.
According to the article, if Obama signs a clearly unconstitutional bill he would be committing a crime. Slaughter + Resolution = circumventing the constitution, you know, that thing they swore to uphold and protect...
After a year of this I'd say it's been very long and painful indeed. The whole thing just keeps getting odder and odder.
“Lately, it always seems like were a day late and dollar short. I dont think we can wait till November. There HAS to be something proactive we can do!”
Hold on there!
Slowly remove your finger from the trigger.
Actually I think they will beat us to it, I don’t think there will be an election in the fall. I think there will be an “event” to give an excuse to suspend the Constitution and declare martial law and suspend elections.
Don’t give them an excuse to do it too early.........
Not according to the Deemocrats.
"You're joking, aren't you?" --- Nancy Pelosi
Have you used the metro system? If you’re coming from Florida up thru Williamsburg, VA, where would you go to ride the metro in?
I am currently in the military. Mid-level colonels (Army/Marines/Airforce) or Captains (Navy), they are very career minded and dedicated to their duties. I am rejoining the civilian ranks in the coming months and resigning my commission. I am personally angered with what I see in Washington and it has a lot to do with me leaving the military. However, I see no evidence of the military coming to the rescue.
Somebody who lives in NoVa will be able to tell you. But there are metro stops at major malls with ample free parking.
Bill Clinton was impeached by the US House of Representatives.
The US Senate decided not to remove him from office......but that doesn't change the fact that he was impeached.
He is already worn out from being overused.
I like the way he thinks.
Get off 95 at the Franconia/Springfield exit (I believe it’s #169) and follow the signs. Parking at the Metro is free on weekends.
Let them try...it will be to their own peril. They are a hair’s breath away as it is.....
Obama is little different than Ceasar Chavez and we can expect much of the same type of attempts to take over the Republic. I seriously believe that Obama may be forced out by popular armed rebellion or a military coup before 2012.
The Deem-o-crats are setting themselves up for the biggest payback ever........................
But it just never seems to happen. The Republicans just fall back into “spineless get along” mode.
