It's official: Christiane Amanpour has been named the next host of ABC's "This Week."
CNN Worldwide President Jim Walton notified staff today that ABC will " announce today that she is joining that organization to headline one of its programs. " Walton noted that despite the "media speculation," the network where she's worked for 27 years has not yet commented.
Walton praised Amanpour's reporting over the years, and said that her "work burnished our news brand and gave it authority."
"In turn, the CNN imprimatur opened doors for her around the world and provided a global platform for the intelligent, courageous, principled reporting that is her signature," he said. "CNN and Christiane helped make each other great."
Since George Stephanopoulos moved to New York in December to host "Good Morning America," there's been a lot of speculation about who would take over the network's Sunday public affairs show.

Although, with this Muzzie at the helm, you'll probably never be asked to be on the show again.

That funny is ABC news that desperate
Start eating Estrogen.
BHO II resigns this weekend due to ineligibility. The world drops to Hillary’s feet to apologize.
If you think that cold CNN got beaten by Cartoon network
Stupid hag.
Not only that, but her own current show on CNN Sundays doesn't get an audience that can fill a senior center - even if they offered simultaneous free BINGO.
Why would they hire a profoundly unsuccessful host, if they weren't motivated solely by ideology?
And who cares?
OH MY, can you imagine a nice Sunday morning with C A sneering at you with her Pro-Muslim rants.
Hehehehe, another nail in ABC’s coffin. I just hope it speeds up their demise.
Who cares? She is one of the “great” reporters who has led CNN into the ratings depths. May she have equal success at ABC.
I didn't know Jaime Rubin was gay.
The 2 million MORE people who watch "This Week" over Fox News Sunday. This week almost triples the viewership of Fox News Sunday.
Darn I had been hoping for Baghdad Bob. He is much more fair and balanced and much less anti-American than Amanpour. Sure he said he would slaughter us all, and roast our livers over a barbecue grill, but at least he was up front and honest about his position.
