I know! There is an argument about whether “deem and pass” is unconstitutional (though no doubt that it is awful and unseemly). There is a very strong consensus, by contrast, that impeaching members of Congress is unconstitutional.

"Finally. A Republican with a set."

Heck, even Pelosi has more guts than most Republican House members.

You can’t impeach a member of Congress, only officers of the executive or judicial branches. The House could expel Pelosi without the need for Senate acquiescence, but it would require a 2/3 supermajority to do so.

Or the House could throw a bucket of water at her ...

What’s up with me? I like to get the facts straight.

The whole idea is nonsensical. Why would they impeach (which they can’t) when they could just expel her? Why would they involve the Senate when they don’t have to? It’s laughable.

Speaking of facts, a Senator was impeached in 1797.

It is constitutional to impeach a member of Congress.

No he wasn’t. It was dismissed.

That’s the case that established the precedent—the whole thing failed precisely because he wasn’t an executive or judicial officer. Saying that this case makes it constitutional to impeach a member of Congress is like saying that Brown v. Board of Education established that segregating schools is constitutional, on account of the lower court’s ruling in favor of the school board.

To be precise, he was impeached by the House, but acquitted by the Senate (which obviously thought he was guilty, since they had expelled him) on grounds of his not being an executive or judicial officer.

Life imitates art? Last night I watched an episode of Spooks originally aired 17 Sep 2006. (Series 5 Episode 1) The official synopsis:

A terror attack on a gas and oil depot has led to energy rationing and people dying of cold. One media group in particular is pedaling anti-government propaganda.

Amid rumors of further terror threats, the team discovers that intelligence about the terror attack was ignored by MI6. It soon becomes clear that, far from being a foreign terror threat, a team of influential businessmen and politicians, led by Ros's father, are attempting to take control of the government.

==================
Granted a bit more dramatic, violent and action packed, but the premise is what we are seeing happen in our our country. A behind the scenes coup of the government using an issue set up for just this purpose. The villians? Members of the British government, branches of security forces, business execs and a enabling media. The dems could have written the script.

"The people won't know any different."
"The people don't care about parliamentary procedure and if they did, they will not care."
"No one will see their day to day lives change
"Democracy is over rated."

It had something we haven't seen ......yet. Temporary detention of officials and other public figures that would throw a wrench into the plan in the final stages.

Watching it at this point in time in our history was truly frightening.

Bachman is the real deal?
Where is Sarah?
+++++++++++++

Well Sarah focused on yesterday’s Code Red Rally in her ongoing Facebook conversation. But soon she’ll be campaigning and fundraising with McLame - so she’s currently ‘tied up’ at just the wrong time. We need you Sarah..

Gutfeld is the hidden gem of FNC. It’s an outrage that he is stuck with the O-dark-thirty timeslot while brainless gasbags like Shep, O’Reilly and Hannity get prime time.

“As Mark Levin mentioned yesterday, libs are all concerned with Due Process when it relates to illegals and criminals getting their day in court, but all of the sudden when it comes to the Constitutionality of this leviathan, Process doesn’t matter to the people, according to them.”

These people are NUTS and EVIL - they defend criminals and illegals, and attack the rights of citizens and the US Constitution.

We need to surround them, and DEFEAT them.

I agree. Funny show. Probably the only example of successfully combining conservative politics and humor—ever.

And why is there not more coverage from the republicans about the main portions of this bill not going into effect for YEARS.

The rush is simply another BIG LIE coming from the administration that is being unreported.

Yes, Yes.
