The USPS and the postal unions were entering into a period of tight negotiations. Carter was bankrupting the country with Democrat induced stagflation, and the contract didn't have a satisfactory COLA. Workers were hurting and postal reform was in danger.
Hot words were passed back and forth. Postal Headquarters was being picketed and postal negotiators (also union guys at one time in their lives) wouldn't cross the picket lines so negotiations couldn't proceed.
The YPSL (Young People's Socialist League) up in New Jersey had gotten tired of having no money, no jobs and no health care for their babies.
They got jobs at USPS working at the new Bulk and Foreign Mail Facility. It was kind of a nasty place to work in the early days because of construction debris, lots of dust, and natural gas still billowing up uncontrolled under the building.
One thing led to another and the YPSL crowd BELIEVED the union rhetoric so they went on strike.
Alas for their socialist fervor, they were the ONLY guys to go on strike.
They were promptly fired.
So, the moral is to NOT walk off the job by yourself. The time will be ripe and then everybody will strike together, but don't think you are going to be the leader if you weren't elected to that job.
If they DEEM the Obamacare passed it is time for action —
no more words. We must, millions upon million of us, go to Washington, D.C. to the Capitol Steps — let them know we will not accept the bill as rammed through via un-constitutional means.
