Cancer Society Phoning for Health Care Support.
Boiling Point

Posted on 03/16/2010 12:29:54 PM PDT by Boiling point

I just got called by the American Cancer Society urging me to send a message to congressman Bart Gordon, (6th district TN), in support of the health care bill. The caller started out by saying that the A.C.S. is a non partisan organization and is only interested in the health of cancer victims. After telling him I was opposed to the bill, he thanked me and hung up. If the A.C.S. is truly non-partisan, then what are they doing campaigning for Obama care? And as far as being interested in the welfare of cancer victims, I guess they don't think being enslaved and broke forever is an adverse condition. At least if health care passes, we ALL get to suffer right along with the cancer patient. If this an indication of the intellect of the management of the A.C.S., then I have serious doubts about their ability to manage donations.

I got a call from a group opposing. They offered to connect me to John Tanner.s office. The kid that answered wasn't any too happy. Must have gotten a lot of calls.

If I can confirm that, I will never give to the American Cancer Society again. [BTW, I have in good years been one of their top donors in the country.]

I distrust most “societies” of any medical kind. I think most of them are secret communists, whether they know it or not.

“I guess they don’t think being enslaved and broke forever is an adverse condition.”

We need to get off the economic issue and start hammering on the MEDICAL issue - never mind that the country will be broke.

What it means is you WON’T get medical care in any kind of timely fashion. You will die before your get that tumor removed. You can’t even get x-rays in a timely manner. You will be in long lines waiting for ANY kind of treatment.

It’s pointless for something to be “cheap” if you don’t get that something in the end.

I don’t see anything wrong with the Cancer Society doing this. They are an advocacy group afterall.

Let’s pick a different issue. Suppose a Republican bill reversing the Brady Bill was up for a vote in Congress, and you received a call from the NRA urging you to call your congressmen in support of the bill. Is that partisan? Or is that just the NRA being what it is: an advocacy group?

I would expect someone that writes articles to be a bit more careful than this... LOL ...

Non-partisan doesn't mean that someone stays silent on political issues, it basically means that they are not going down "one line" of the political spectrum but take either side or work in harmony with both sides for certain issues that concern them

See the defintion below ...

Based on, influenced by, affiliated with, or supporting the interests or policies of no single political party

I think some article writers need a bit more of an education before they start writing articles... :-)

I called him a Marxist and told him to Volunteer for the Cuban Cancer Society and report back on their survival rate before ever calling me again for either a donation or support for some Communist bill and destruction of our Republic.

Sooooooo, when the bill advocates NOT getting breast exams (nor should doctors instruct their patients HOW to examine themselves) until age 50 they're ALL FOR THIS BILL?

As the spouse of a 2 time breast cancer survivor, the first diagnosis at age 31, I say BS!

That was fast: "At the American Cancer Society, we're working every day to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. But we can't continue our progress while millions of underinsured and uninsured Americans don't have access to lifesaving cancer care. This site will tell you more about what we're doing to ensure everyone has access to quality health care and how you can help."

A phone call to their contact number, 1-866-228-4327, confirms that they have gone completely partisan and support ObamaCare. Bye-bye ACS, hello National Rifle Association (already a Life Member many years ago) and selected conservative candidates as my new favorite charities.

I think they have always supported banning the pre-existing condition exclusion. That has typically been a problem to the average cancer survivor.

Per their ACSCAN site, the American Cancer Society is urging people to sign the petition to pass Obamacare.

is a non partisan organization and is only interested in the health of cancer victims.

They're one of the richest corporations in the country. Does anyone really think they want people to stop smoking? They'd lose all those death donations.

An almond or two a day and you'll never have to fear cancer. Why do you think scientists are studying the peach pit (poison)? They want the patent medicine. An almond, like aspirin, cannot be patented. The peach pit is a cousin of the almond.
Cancer is a great population control disease. Just think of how many people we'd have in the country today if no one died early. Abortions would have to double to make up the difference.

The world is not always as it seems.

Are these the same Einsteins that issued the statement that mammograms were detrimental to the treatment of breast cancer??

Maybe that was the AMA?

Really, what color is the sky in your world today?

Naw. Not buying that one. The NRA is an advocacy group. I cannot deduct donations to them from my taxes. The Cancer Society is a charity, and I CAN deduct their donations.

Charities ought to keep their noses out of politics (IMO).

I’m a cancer survivor. And I’m grateful for the research that saved my life.

But ACS will never see another dime from me.
