LONDON The world's shortest man, He Pingping, who stood just over two feet five inches tall (75 centimetres), has died, Britain's Guinness World Records said Monday. He was 21.
He -- a native of China who had a form of primordial dwarfism and measured 74.61 centimetres -- was in Rome taking part in a television show when he suffered chest problems.
He was taken to hospital, where he died over the weekend.
Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of London-based Guinness World Records, recalled measuring He in the northern Chinese region of Inner Mongolia in 2008.

And all this time, I thought Robert Reich was the world's smallest man. Who knew?
To: OldDeckHand
No, reich IS a small man, Mr. Pingping was just short.

Bummer. From what I read, he was a decent person.
But we all gotta go, I guess...

I have no medical credentials whatsoever but the pictures I've seen of Mr. Pingping look like a person with primordial dwarfism. Such folks often die young.
I'm sorry for his passing.

We have a son that age.
Way too young...

From what I read, he was a decent person. I recall the same thing. I can't remember the specifics but there was an interview with him and he was very self-confident and positive. Sad he only lived until 21.
