A very dangerous act is being attempted by the Left to secure their rule over the American people and transform the legislative process from a Constitutional Republic to a government by fiat. Today on Fox News Sunday, Democratic leader Rep. Chris Van Hollen admitted Democrats intend to use the unconstitutional “Slaughter Rule” as a solution to ram nationalized health care through Congress without majority vote and in defiance to the will of the American people.
The Slaughter rule would declare that the House of Representatives “deems” the Senate health care bill “passed” by the House. House members would have to vote on whether to accept the rule, but would then be able to claim they only voted for a rule, not for the bill itself. In other words, Democrats will avoid a direct vote on the health care bill while allowing it to become law! They will take over one-sixth of the US economy without voting on it in direct violation to the legislative process defined by the U.S Constitution. Article I, Section VII, Clause II specifically states,
"Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States;... But in all such Cases the Votes of both Houses shall be determined by Yeas and Nays, and the Names of the Persons voting for and against the Bill shall be entered on the Journal of each House respectively."

Without having yet read the article ( I will, I don’t pass up Horowitz) I have gotta say that since the very first time I read that term when they were closeted with the parlaimentarian, that “The Slaughter Solution” is the most APTLY NAMED legislative trick I have learned of since Hitler’s “Final Solution”.
How very, VERY appropriate.
This is the process by which the elected president of Venezuela became the dictator.
The author makes that same point. Our Republic will cease to exist and we will be at the mercy of their fiat.
The American people (those with any sense) would then be morally and legally justified in physical resistance to an illegitimate government.

The most reasonable reaction to this power grab that destroys the constitution is for all the states to declare themselves independent.
Back when I first read that Russian economist's prediction that the US would dissolve I thought he was nuts...now I see he was just better at predicting how evil the democrats can be.

I believe this is actually the goal of the democrat party...to create a crisis so they can declare martial law and turn the US into a dictatorship. A cloward and piven strategy.
They are more than likely to start a civil war and get themselves killed.

Agreed. They are already working on amendments which will include nationalizing student loans, and are discussing adding cap-n-trade to the bill. It's a win-win situation in their eyes. Those idiots who voted for Obama in '08 voted for the destruction of our nation. And those conservatives who decided to stay home and not vote to teach the Pubbies a lesson are equally at fault.
The democrats have put all of their cookies in to one basket, they all all in, betting the farm. They seem to know now that the failure of healthcare legislation will result in their complete demise for decades into the future. Their only recourse, dissolution of our democratic republic.
This may well prove to be an actual battle between the SCOTUS vs. POTUS and Congress.
Any and all who would proceed or promote this direction (via the Slaughter fiat) are traitors and deserve a traitor’s fate.
The parliamentary ruling put a stop to a different thing. The Senate Dems were going to try to use reconciliation on a bill after it passed the House but before it was signed by the President.
That way the worried House Dems could be calmed into believing that the bill would not become law until changes were made. The ruling was that only after the bill became law by presidential signing could the so-called reconciliation proceed.
What THIS article is saying is that Louise Slaughter who runs the Rules Committee thinks she can put in a rule for this bill that says it passes without a recorded vote. Just declare it passed (if they don’t have the votes). I think there are limited circumstances where this has been done before, but never on something of this nature and magnitude. If a bill is about to sail through the House and there’s some time urgency, I think it has been done where it was declared as passed without a role call vote.
To threaten its use here smacks of a COUP, a dictatorship against the will of the people.
The Senate Parliamentarian does not rule on House procedures. If Slaughter’s rule declared the bill passed, and Obama signed it, that would suffice.
Anyway, Rush believes there will never be any reconciliation. That when the bill is signed into law that will be that.
“Their only recourse, dissolution of our democratic republic.”
It will be the thing that ignites Civil War II and also the signing of their own death warrants as traitors to the Consitution and Republic.
