SALT LAKE CITY — Mitt Romney brought his book tour Saturday back to the city where he led the 2002 Winter Olympics, telling an enthusiastic audience he could decide by Christmas whether to run again for president.

"That's not a decision we've made at this point," Romney told a 12-year-old boy from Bluffdale who said he was "asking a question that a lot of people are wondering and that's, 'Are you going to run for president?' "

The cheers the question received were among the loudest during Romney's hour-long appearance at the Salt Palace as part of his national tour for his latest book, "No Apology: The Case for American Greatness."

Romney said that, like the last time he made a bid for the GOP nomination for president, he and his family will gather to discuss the pros and cons of another campaign, possibly at Christmas or over New Year's.

He said his 2008 run for the White House was fun, especially because of the people who "give their heart and soul for you even when they know you're going to lose."

"There will be somebody who runs in the Republican Party," Romney told an estimated 4,000 people gathered in the Grand Ballroom. "I can tell you I'll either be that person, or I'll be working my tail off for that person, and I want you to, as well, because we've got to take back America."

I and others warned people — don’t support McCain. He will divide us. Crossover votes sabotaged that primary. We had three choices:

1. Vote against Obama
2. Vote “present” [third party]
3. Vote for Obama.

So I fought against Obama. I never once said that McCain was the best thing since sliced bread. McCain failed to unite us. He embraced the bailout for one thing. He muzzled criticism of Obama for another.

Now we can rid of McCain and yes — he is a RINO.

I don’t call Romney a RINO myself. I call him a schemer like Newt. Worse than Newt, in fact. I’m a schemer from way back. Maybe it takes one to know one. We don’t earn the respect that more solid leaders do.

There is a certain brand of “conservative” who cares nothing about right and wrong or about America. They care only about electing a republican and would run to vote for Obama if he became a republican.

I agree with your “piss ons....” and I would never attack anyone for attacking Romney either in the primaries (where I will be attacking him) or IF (please God no) he wins the nomination, you attack him in the general campaign.

I will also not be pushing others to vote for Romney in the general.....but I plan to if the choices are Mitt or 4 more years of the Marxist.

Feel free to attack me over it all you want to, I think that we’ve built up enough of a repoire not to stoop to those levels however.

Not quite. I seem to remember that a significant part of their fundraising last year consisted of transfers from the McCain/Palin 2008 victory fund, i.e., money that conservatives thought was going to Palin instead went to McCain's re-election campaign or to the RINO Nat'l Committee.

Yes, it can, provided that he is stripped of his super-majority and the Vichy RINOs are simultaneously forced into submission.

(Remember what DeMint said: "I would rather have 30 Marco Rubios in the Senate than 60 Arlen Specters." A very angry, vocal, and aggressive minority can do far more damage to the enemy than a soft, limp-wristed, compromising slim majority.)
