Mom: Next 72 hours critical for girl attacked by dogs
The next 72 hours are going to be critical for a DeKalb girl mauled by dogs, her mother told the AJC late Wednesday.
Erin Ingram, 8, has undergone two surgeries in two days. But, so far, everything looks good, said her mother Tawonna Ingram.
"She's a very strong little girl," Tawonna Ingram said Wednesday night.
Tuesday afternoon, one neighbor called 911 and another hit the dogs with an umbrella as the third-grader was being mauled by two dogs.
When a DeKalb County police officer arrived, he fought off the dogs with a baton.
Erin was in critical condition late Wednesday following the attack. She underwent emergency surgery Tuesday evening and again on Wednesday.
The dogs' owner, Twyann Artrell Vaughn, is expected to be charged, according to Officer Jason Gagnon. The investigation into the attack continues.
Erin, a student at Rock Chapel Elementary, was apparently playing outside Tuesday afternoon when she was approached by the dogs, police said. Neighbors told police the dogs lived a few houses away, on Margaret Court, off of Union Grove Road near Lithonia.
The first officer to the scene pulled out his baton to forcefully remove the dogs from the child, Gagnon said. The two dogs then began circling the officer, who pulled out his gun. One of the dogs, a mixed breed, ran toward its house, and the officer fired a gunshot, killing the other dog, an American Staffordshire Terrier, Gagnon said.

There is one person who makes a habit of posting bad news about Cops on Free Republic so here is one of the many good news stories involving law enforcement. This DeKalb County GA cop saved the girl's life, no doubt about it. Well done!

Tawonna Ingram
Twyann Artrell Vaughn Hmmm... but matters not. Kudos to Officer Jason Gagnon.
As regards the postings, the ones that have caught my attention were about cops who've gone/done bad. I will simply note that if the majority of policemen were like that we'd not be seeing these stories.

Tawonna???
Once I read the mother's name I didn't need to read any more. I could put the story together before I read it. Then I read the story and I was almost 100% correct.
Am I guilty of profiling???

Yeah, evidently The Magical Mischief Tour knows how to google and post at least 10 stories about bad cops per day.
I guess he must have gotten a speeding ticket or something.

Once I read the mother's name I didn't need to read any more. She's not responsible for what HER mother inflicted on her. Notice she gave her daughter a standard name.

Yes, we all understand what those names imply, but the little girl was saved by a brave Cop who jumped into a two dog attack. Note also her mother and FATHER were at the hospital to be with her.

The guy has a real problem with cops. He saves up these stories for a while and then floods the site at one time.
This is pure speculation on my part but I bet he got a nasty traffic ticket or something of the sort and now has a bad feeling about police. In his mind he's getting back at them. Pure guesswork on my part but I'll bet it's something along these lines.
I once knew a guy (not a friend) who drove like a madman. It got to the point that I would refuse to ride with him. I told this fool that he was an accident waiting to happen. He ignored my warnings and was finally involved in an incident where he was charged with wreckless driving (excessive speed). He hated all police thereafter. He was one sick cat.
I'll bet money that somewhere along the line that the Magical Mystery guy was involved in something like this.

That’s not the question. Am I guilty of profiling. Think about my question (in detail) and then get back to me.

Thanks for the post - nice to read about heroic activity every now and then.

Yes, we all understand what those names imply
Yes thank God for the heroic cop. But that's not what I was getting at. When I read the name a picture of the story immediately came into my mind. My suspicions were confirmed. So is that a bad or good thing. Am I guilty of profiling?

Please explain how cops get away with this thing called “professional courtesy” where other cops and their girlfriends are above the law. I have zero respect for these revenue agents who spout the law is meant for everyone out of one side of their mouth.
I have no problems with cops who help people and solve crimes.
A Sterling Heights cop wrote tickets for people not having their parking brakes set in their flat driveways. The UNION prevented the city from firing the cop. If they want to be joined together in a union, and protect bad cops, well you do the math.

I bet the first words out of the mouth of the owner of the dogs were “You killed my dog!”
