Republicans now expect Democrats to pass health care through the House with a trick only Capitol Hill could dream up: approving the Senate bill without voting on it.
Democrats will vote on a separate bill that includes language stating that the original Senate bill is deemed passed.
So by voting for the first bill a reconciliation measure to fix certain things in the Senate bill that will automatically pass the second bill the original Senate bill without a separate roll call taking place.
Its called the Slaughter Solution (prepare for a weekend of endless TV gabbing about it).
And after debating House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer on the chamber floor, Minority Whip Eric Cantor emerged convinced that Democrats are going to use the tactic, and that they wont allow Republicans, and the public, to see the text of any legislation for 72 hours before a vote.
I can infer that were going to see a rule that will deem the Senate bill as having passed, and at the same time not even have 72 hours to even look at what they are passing, Cantor, a Virginia Republican, said in an interview outside his office at the Capitol.

How can this even be remotely Constitutional?
If this happens, armed citizens in the millions need to descend on Washington and clean house. It’s time.
Run ‘em out on a rail!!
Aptly named, given the slaughter that will follow in November if they manage to pull this crap.
Unbelievable and illegal. I’m praying that G_d removes the evil that is flourishing in our capitol.
It’s not and the Supreme Court will put a stop to this nonsense. The Health Care bill is dead, but the Democrats can say “We tried and the mean, nasty Supreme Court stopped us!” to all of their voters.
I am just speechless.
What I’d like to see happen is for about three of these hard-core rat “No” voters from conservatives districts to keep hemming and hawwing and wheeling and dealing and eventually tell them, “Okay, you have my vote.” Then vote “No” when the vote is taken. Sucker punch the bastards. They would be assured re-election and would be heroes. Then they could just change parties, win-win-win scenario.
There will be the political carnage first with the real carnage to follow.
No tickee, no shirtee. And the 'Rats know it, too. That won't stop them, however.
Pitchforks and torches time.
Maybe we shouldn’t wait until November. Spring Break started today for us and probably millions more . . . Let’s Roll.
This makes me so ill. Freaking Unbelievable.
That's what I am, speechless. The headline (and most of the article) reads like something pulled straight from "The Onion". With that title, you think - "This has to be a parody, right?"
Section 5.
Each House shall keep a journal of its proceedings, and from time to time publish the same, excepting such parts as may in their judgment require secrecy; and the yeas and nays of the members of either House on any question shall, at the desire of one fifth of those present, be entered on the journal.
I used to think eventually the less radical members in Congress would help stop this decent into madness. They are truly mad.
But it is not to be. One little spark will be all it takes to bring emotions to a head. Scary.
Is this even legal?
This was thwarted yesterday by the Senate Parliamentarian—unless something has changed since then.
