Don Imus, for one, is not surprised by Tom Hanks' recent comments calling WWII and the War on Terrorism racist crusades undertaken by the United States.

First brought to his attention by "Imus in the Morning" producer Bernard McGuirk on the show, the remarks were news to the host - just not shocking news.

"Oh darn, what a surprise. We have another panty-wearing liberal dickweed from Hollywood - of course!" Imus told McGuirk.

The Hurt Locker...Americans are imperialists in a place they shouldn't be, black guy virtuous and good, white guy redneck and morally ambiguous. Along the lines of full metal jacket, where the American soldiers are not the good guys, just confused pawns, plodding along cursing and acting like uncultured barbarians. Oh and the new Tom Hanks show The Pacific, crap also, same sort of thing, bright eyed Marines who feel sorry for the Japanese soldiers. Also terribly unrealistic and a historical abomination.

I thought it had entertainment value, but lacked verisimilitude.

There was definitely some strong embellishment of how those operations are really conducted as well as a lot of revisionist stuff about the overall experience in Iraq.

I always want to make films. I think of it as a great opportunity to comment on the world in which we live. Perhaps just because I just came off The Hurt Locker (2008) and I'm thinking of the war and I think it's a deplorable situation. It's a great medium in which to speak about that. This is a war that cannot be won, why are we sending troops over there? Well, the only medium I have, the only opportunity I have, is to use film. There will always be issues I care about.

Spielberg has been a supporter of Fidel Castro and his regime for decades. He has visited CUBA as part of some cultural exchange program he is involved with.

Even Robert Duval called him out on it a few years back!
