Don Imus, for one, is not surprised by Tom Hanks' recent comments calling WWII and the War on Terrorism racist crusades undertaken by the United States.
First brought to his attention by "Imus in the Morning" producer Bernard McGuirk on the show, the remarks were news to the host - just not shocking news.
"Oh darn, what a surprise. We have another panty-wearing liberal dickweed from Hollywood - of course!" Imus told McGuirk.

Is it any wonder that for three thousand years actors have been so dispised that in ancient society actors were just one step above a prostitute.
Sure, the US is not a perfect country and no one would argue that point. The history is clear on this. With that said, the US has evolved into the ‘protector of freedom and human rights’ in this world. The post war success of Japan and Germany are proof if this. In time, Iraq will be further proof of this.
It is sad that some of our leading citizens feel the need to side with Hugo Chavez, Muslim extremist, Saddam Hussein and the worst that Japan had to offer the world 70 years ago. For a time there in the 60’s and into the 70’s, arguing against logic made one look intellectual and avante-garde....even more so if you had a beatnik look and some granny glasses. Today, arguing against common sense makes one like a complete ass...a slave to an image long since past. It looks like it's Tom Hanks turn this week to be that ass.
“From the Earth to the Moon” was fantastic and I was always glad Tom was a space enthusiast. Now he sounds like an idiot.
For years the left was screeching that Iraq was an immoral war because they never attacked us, etc. But we WERE attacked by Japan, and now he says the only reason we fought them is because they are different? These elitists are almost laughable. Too bad they have such influence.
Listen to (or read) the words of Tom Hanks in regards to his view of the U.S. and WWII. Then, ask yourself, would he allow his view to influence how Band of Brothers was directed.

Not necessarily. I think he just tells it the way he thinks it will sell. The man appears to have absolutely no abiding or sincere political beliefs.
For example, if Tom Hanks and/or Pres. Øbama should poll exceptionally well tonight, then tomorrow morning Imus would be acting the role of a flaming leftwinger.
That being said, few in the business can do a more skillful interview. I wish it had been Imus rather than Glenn Beck who interviewed Massa the other night on FNC!
OK I remember that movie, too. I just have the title wrong. I am talking about the one where she gets in an accident and this guy rents her apartment. It was a real good movie.
Yes I know that now. I know the movie I am talking about. I just can’t remember the title. The one with Sandra Bullock was good, too.
I find it amazing that my father’s generation, for the most part, was able to forgive the Japs. Some of them died on the beaches. Some left body parts in the jungle. Some endured the most horrible conditions in camps and coal mines. Yet, to a person, they seemed to forgive and move on.
They forgave. And now they have all passed on. I accept their decision on how to live the rest of their lives. But I will not let the next generation forget how they sacrificed their lives and “lifes” to defeat those bastards.
Imus has always been pretty open about that. He has always said that his purpose is the relish in the pain of others. A lot of people choose to not believe him when he says that—and then they are surprised when he does JUST that.
I think his morning show is one of the more honest and watchable morning shows out there. F&F has gone from decent, to boring and predictable. And that was the best of what is out there.

Hanks needs to read the book: “FLY BOYS” and then maybe he’ll understand the Japanese BUSHIDO bullcr@p that led to Pearl Harbor, the Bataan Death March, etc.
As for his stupid claim that we wanted to “annihilate” the Japs; after Hiroshima and Nagasake we certainly COULD HAVE done it. Instead, we showed our hatred and revenge by getting them out from under their BS Emperor, setting them up with a wonderful representative government, and starting them on a path which led them to one of the highest and most properous lifestyles on the planet.

...and this gives me the opening to mention ``Tender Mercies'' with Robert Duvall and Tess Harper from 1983. Rent it this weekend if you can and watch it with your family. No cars explode, no space creatures, no SFX -- just a warm story of redemption. I like it for any number of reasons not the least of which it treats Christianity with reverence.

I do, however, give them credit for the way they have honored the WWII vets. I just disagree with them that WWII was the last "good" war.
Told Flyboys and Bataan Death March story today to my American History classes, also told the story of Mitsou Fuchita’s conversion from Pearl harbor attack leader to a born again Christian who spoke at Billy Graham crusades, in a public school no less.
Who are the “sidekicks” on Imus?
Even though I used to see the radio show on MSNBC, I never could match the names to faces.
Makes me wonder how Imus knows Hanks wears panties.
