Democrat Activist Runs Whitman Campaign

Meg Whitman’s top campaign aide is Henry Gomez, a former Democratic National Committee operative who worked against President Ronald Reagan’s policies in the 1980s. Gomez, a registered Democrat, has a “front-and-center role” in as the “hands-on campaign gatekeeper” of the Whitman campaign. Placing an ardent liberal in such a high position on the campaign raises serious questions about who is calling the shots on Whitman’s campaign.

Raising further skepticism is the timing of Gomez’s political contributions. Gomez already gave $1,000 to Obama’s presidential primary campaign in March 2008. He then proceeded to give $1,800 to Obama four days before Meg Whitman addressed the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota. Gomez decided to contribute the maximum by giving $500 more in September 2008. In total, he gave $3,300 to Obama’s campaign, all while accompanying Whitman on the campaign trail for Sen. John McCain.

Whitman’s Top Aide Is A Democrat Who Contributed The Maximum To Obama’s Campaign And Worked For The Democratic National Committee Against The Reagan Administration:

Henry Gomez, Top Adviser To Meg Whitman’s Gubernatorial Campaign, Contributed The Maximum Amount To Barack Obama’s Presidential Campaign In The Days Before And Following Whitman’s Appearance At The Republican National Convention In 2008. “Even as former eBay CEO Meg Whitman acted as a high-profile backer and adviser to 2008 GOP presidential candidate John McCain, her top aide Henry Gomez — now an eMeg gubernatorial campaign majordomo — donated the maximum to Democrat Barack Obama, federal records show. Gomez, a trusted top insider in Republican Whitman’s 2010 gubernatorial campaign, donated the maximum $2,300 allowed to the general election campaign of Obama in the days before — and the weeks following — the former eBay CEO’s high profile televised address to the GOP National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he accompanied Whitman around the clock.” (Carla Marinucci, ” Meg Whitman’s Campaign Guru Donated Max To….Barack Obama?,” San Francisco Chronicle’s “Politics” Blog, www.sfgate.com, 1/13/10)

Gomez Is A Registered Democratic Voter In New Jersey. “Gomez is a registered Democratic voter in New Jersey, according to records of the Bergen County Registrar’s office. And here’s a twist: Gomez’s donation to Obama came as Tucker Bounds, now chief spokesman for Whitman’s gubernatorial drive, acted as the mouthpiece for the McCain presidential campaign.” (Carla Marinucci, ” Meg Whitman’s Campaign Guru Donated Max To….Barack Obama?,” San Francisco Chronicle’s “Politics” Blog, www.sfgate.com, 1/13/10)

Gomez Has A “Front-And-Center Role” In Whitman’s Campaign, Described By Insiders As The Hands-On Campaign Gatekeeper Responsible For The Campaign’s Organization And Communications. “Still, Gomez’s front-and-center role in Whitman’s political career has been a key to her aspirations: he is described by insiders as a hands-on campaign ‘gatekeeper’ repsonsible [sic] for putting her campaign team together, making its major hires, and shaping her speeches and campaign messages.” (Carla Marinucci, ” Meg Whitman’s Campaign Guru Donated Max To….Barack Obama?,” San Francisco Chronicle’s “Politics” Blog, www.sfgate.com, 1/13/10)

Gomez’s Strong Democratic Ties “Could Ruffle Feathers In The Conservative GOP Grassroots” And Raise Questions About Whitman’s Conservative Credentials. “With just five months until the June 8 primary campaign, Gomez’s generous donations to the Democratic presidential candidate could ruffle feathers in the conservative GOP grassroots — and raise questions about Whitman’s conservative cred as she seeks to maintain her advantage in the polls.” (Carla Marinucci, ” Meg Whitman’s Campaign Guru Donated Max To….Barack Obama?,” San Francisco Chronicle’s “Politics” Blog, www.sfgate.com, 1/13/10)

Gomez Contributed $1,000 To Obama’s Primary Campaign In March 2008, $1,800 On August 31, 2008 – Four Days Before Whitman Spoke At The National Convention – And Another $500 By The End Of September 2008. “Records show Gomez, whose legal residence is in Saddle River, New Jersey, donated $1,000 to Obama’s primary campaign in March 2008. He gave Obama an additional $1,800 on Aug. 31 — four days before Whitman addressed the national GOP gathering at McCain’s nomination –and another $500 by the end of September 2008. He listed his occupation as ’self-employed,’ according to federal records.” (Carla Marinucci, ” Meg Whitman’s Campaign Guru Donated Max To….Barack Obama?,” San Francisco Chronicle’s “Politics” Blog, www.sfgate.com, 1/13/10)

Whitman’s Own Website Advertises Gomez’s Influential Role In The Campaign. “Whitman’s website describes Gomez as heading eBay’s public relations ‘during most of Meg’s tenure,’ as well as being her current communications adviser and lead speechwriter. ‘Henry has worked closely with Jeff Randle for more than two years on building the campaign,’ the website says, noting that Gomez ‘is a registered Democrat who has crossed party lines to help a friend he believes will make California great again.’” (Carla Marinucci, ” Meg Whitman’s Campaign Guru Donated Max To….Barack Obama?,” San Francisco Chronicle’s “Politics” Blog, www.sfgate.com, 1/13/10)

Since 2002, Gomez Contributed At Least $17,500 To Former Controller Steve Westly’s (D-CA) Campaigns. (National Institute On Money In State Politics Website, www.followthemoney.org, Accessed 3/2/10)

Gomez Previously Worked For The Democratic National Committee In Washington, D.C. “Five things to know about Henry Gomez … He once worked for the Democratic National Committee in Washington, D.C.” (“Five Things To Know About Henry Gomez,” The [San Jose] Mercury News, 12/11/05)

Gomez Served As A DNC Spokesperson, Discussing Why Young Voters Would Resist Republican Politics In The 1980s. “The conservative climate has Democrats worried, but some party leaders see hope. Says Henry Gomez, youth coordinator for the Democratic National Committee: ‘Students are liberal on many issues such as the equal-rights amendment and abortion. And they’re scared that conservative groups are going too far in some areas, such as trying to legalize school prayer and get involved in people’s personal lives.’” (Kenneth T. Walsh, “From Lecture Monitoring To Banner Waving To Recruiting For Reagan,” U.S. News & World Report, 1/13/86)

Relocating from CA to somewhere else is beginning to look better and better every day that goes by.

Must be some kind of joke, check out these right wing political donations she has made, and that cute Van Jones, why he is to die for. Would Mitt Romney have put a rich rino in as our candidate?

I traded some of my home equity to finance moving from San Diego to Pocatello, ID. The difference in the cost of living repaid that cost and continues to yield dividends. I'm not worried about more insane anti-gun laws. I don't have illegals walking the streets in front of my home, sipping water out of my garden hose and burglarizing homes in my neighbor. No driveby shootings. No Mexican Mafia kidnapping kids off the streets. Minimal traffic. Snow on the lawn means I'm not watering it or cutting it from October to May. It's nice to have free time on the weekends. There is a bit more wind here than I expected. Otherwise, the annual precipitation is very similar to San Diego.

I lived 5 years in North Dakota. That was enough northern tier climate for me to last a lifetime. Perhaps Texas?

BTW, the local Oregon Trail/Gateway shooting club has a nice facility with lots of silhouettes. They often host the state silhouette championships around Labor Day. A new indoor range just opened as well. Yellowstone National Park is a 2 hour drive. To get a handle on current housing prices, check the 83202 zip code for a start.

Perhaps Texas?

I would do a lot of research before making that choice. Check taxes. CCW practices in Idaho would get your permit pulled in TX. There might be some better employment options in TX.

I would take a huge pay cut in Idaho - so large that the difference in cost of living would not make up for it. I’m not yet sure of where would be the best options for relocating, but I’m going to start looking. CA is a sinking ship.

"Meg Whitman’s top campaign aide is Henry Gomez, a former Democratic National Committee operative who worked against President Ronald Reagan’s policies in the 1980s. Gomez, a registered Democrat,..."

The woman is a Democrat! Plain and simple. A DEMOCRAT pretending to be a Republican so that the conservative elements in the party will not be able to have a conservative as a candidate. A game that has played far to long against the conservatives in the party. A typical communist/Democrat Party/Liberal false flag operation on display. Does the Republican party support her? How long will the Republican Party poohbahs allow this to continue? Is it any wonder why so many of us think a third conservative party is necessary? Who is running the Republican Party and what are their real political beliefs?

It’s a contested primary so there isn’t an official state party endorsement.

She does have the backing of people like John McCain and Mitt Romney and she is willing to spend millions and million to buy this office. Or at the very least, she has shut out any conservative from running and will likely be trounced by Jerry Brown since the media is already tired of her stand-off-ish tactics (she is just a self-created marketing image and nothing more).

The Pubbie Poobahs will just keep allowing it to happen because they are just too unprincipled.

This woman is not a Republican. She should be eliminated as a candidate.
