Gays already have equal rights.
Any gay man can marry any unmarried woman he chooses, and no straight man can marry another man.
Civil rights don't extend to preferences.
“Myth #3: Any group of people including homosexual couples can contribute to the well-being of children and form a productive unit of society.”
this is the most grievously damaging myth...it is a simple fact that children do better when they are from stable opposite sex, 2 parent homes. Period. That is the optimum.
I also agree with the article in that, when two men or two women are considered a "married" couple, then the floodgates will open. If there is nothing special about marriage being between one man and one woman, than what is so special about the number two?
Ping.
Myth #1: It doesn’t hurt straights financially.
It’s an insurance scam.
I have a friend who wants to marry a hamster, and another who wants to marry his blowup doll.
Well, maybe not, but ....
By the same token, the rights of children to as normal as possible of an upbringing ought to trumpt the right of gays to raise children. A turkey baster is not a father.
Bump for later, to send to some liberal friends...
Satan tends to do this.
Take something holy and wholesome and make a mockery of it.
For example, the “mark of the beast” is simply a parody/mockery of the “mark of the Lamb”.
It’s also a redefinition. How about I call my computer a gun and say, “The right to own computer-guns cannot be infringed.”
Or instead of a computer, I call an alias a gun. “The right to own an alias-gun cannot be infringed.”
And a judge can’t be blind either. Needs to be able to size up witnesses’ body language ... oh wait. Some judges are blind.
My homosexual cousin wishes to ‘marry’ is longtime boyfriend.
A very small part of me wishes them happiness.
However, whenever I read his face book rantings regarding Religion especially Christianity, I see a seriously confused young man whose extreme hatred of all that is Religious just might be a cry for help and a thin disguise for self hatred regarding his chosen sexuality.
this is the most grievously damaging myth...it is a simple fact that children do better when they are from stable opposite sex, 2 parent homes. Period. That is the optimum. That is true, but stable two parent heterosexual homes are in the minority these days.
The real question you should be asking is, which is better, a single parent home or a gay one? I've seen a lot of single parent families where the parents are absolutely *worthless* , I've also seen homosexual(male) couples who absolutely doted on their children and raised them right.
The real question should be "should we allow incompetent or unwilling people to be parents?". Marriage died as an institution in the '60s. Society is falling apart and so far the best options we, as conservatives, can come up with is flailing around at a bunch of homos. Which is just the tip of a very large iceberg.
May I suggest "Certificated Sodomy" as an alternative?
Forgive the imagery, but can two people of the same sex ‘consummate’ a marriage? If you go by the dictionary definition, there is an argument to be made that only a man and a woman can. How long before some lawyer argues that his gay married client is entitled to an annulment on that basis??
Exactly! Traditional marriage is equally available to heterosexuals and homosexuals. Homosexuals (most anyway) freely choose not to enter into it, to pursue a different lifestyle that precludes marriage.
I think debunking the “civil rights issue” lie is key to winning people over. Most Americans are very passionate about civil rights (as they should be) and the homosexulists know this and use it to manipulate people.
“The real question you should be asking is...”
Well, if that were a question I wanted to ask, perhaps. But I was making a statement about what the optimum situation for children is...that is my opinion. People should be grown ups and realize they need to take care of their kids no matter what, of course. But I was simply making a statement about what is FAR AND AWAY the best situation...don’t see why we need to stop stating that...I don’t think “single parenting” is too hot either, personally. Sorry.
Bump
