President Barack Obama said his healthcare plan takes into account "every single serious idea" on cost containment from both parties.
Obama made the remark in a stump speech Monday in Glenside, Pa., where he sought to address GOP criticisms that his health plan doesn't do enough to contain rising costs.
Obama, who appeared with Sens. Bob Casey Jr. (D-Pa.) and Arlen Specter (D-Pa.), argued he's incorporated serious Republican proposals to contain rising healthcare costs.
"You keep on hearing from critics and some of the Republicans on these Sunday shows say, 'Well, we want to do more about costs,' " Obama said in a speech at Arcadia University.
"We have now incorporated almost every single serious idea from across the political spectrum about how to contain the rising costs of healthcare, ideas that go after waste and abuse in our system, including in programs like Medicare."

When a Republican you never heard of, campaigning out of the back of his pickup truck in Massachuesetts, can take Sen. Ed Kennedy's Senate seat a few months after he died...then the hand writing should be on the wall.
Well I guess if you ration care and cut off benefits to all the elderly and they die off then in effect he may be right there will be a cost savings.

Paul Ryan put the cost issue out there for everyone to see during the health-care summit. No one has come back and repudiated the numbers. This things will cost us a ton and remember the “hidden” costs as Paul Ryan pointed out. This thing is a disaster in the making in many ways.

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.
