Conservative opponents of the Obama administration are urging supporters to resist the upcoming US census, saying it asks too many questions and reflects increasing government intrusion into private matters.
The census, held every 10 years since 1790, is becoming a focal point for the growing anti-government movement in the US.
The government will endeavour to count every person living in the US, regardless of legal, immigration or citizenship status. The count, which helps determine political representation and the distribution of hundreds of billions of dollars in government funds, is mandated by the constitution.
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, a virulently conservative, anti-Obama Republican from Minnesota, has urged supporters to give only the number of people living in their household, saying nothing more is required by the constitution. Participation in the census is required by law and to refuse, or to falsify information, is punishable by fines that can range from $100 up to $500 (about £60 to £300), although the law is rarely enforced.

True. But .....
..... the alleged number of citizens in your State determines representation which determines the number of Congress-critters your State gets which determines how much Federal pork your herd of Congress-critters will bring home which determines the number of gold-plated street lights that will be installed in your city.
BFLR
Why is that? He's on call for 15 minutes or so every Monday with an Indy station. He answered a callers question about what to do with her 48 question form and the repurcussions for not answering all of them. He pretty much gave her cover by virtue of his office.
I appreciate your comments but, as one who is researching family genealogy, I disagree with what you say about the form you show. It only shows the names of heads of household and the number of males and females who live in that household and their age catgegories...no names for spouse or children. I’ve hit a brick wall because of this kind of form. So many people had the same first and last names it’s difficult to know who belongs to whom without names of spouses and childen. The form might be great for a census count but terrible for searching family history.
He?
Wait a sec.
I think I just conservation jumped. lol.
I meant sending people letters that say you’ll get your census form next week is a waste of money.
I got the same
These questions will help determine how more than $400 billion in federal funds will be distributed to places like hospitals, schools, senior centers, etc.
Looks to me like there is $400 billion of taxpayer money that should be cut 100% as unconstitutional usurping of taxpayer money, and should be returned back to the taxpayers on a pro-rata basis who actually paid federal income taxes.
.
My responses to the following questions....
1) How many people are living/staying in the household.
2) If there were any people staying in the house not mentioned in response to question 1.
3) Whether or not the homeowners/leasers have mortgages or pay rent.
4) The households telephone number.
5) Information about each person living in the household.
6) Gender of the head of the household.
7) Date of birth of the head of the household.
8) Whether or not the head of the household has Hispanic origin.
9) The head of the households race.
10) Whether or not the head of the household sometimes lives elsewhere.
Question 1, I will answer.
Questions 2 thru 8 will be answered as "N/A"
Question 9 will be answered as "American"
Question 10 will be answered as "N/A"
Finished - mail the census form in!
And WTH is with Question #8? WTH difference does it make if the Head of the Household has Hispanic origin? Is that to help allocate how much land to Aztlan (the Hispanic "Nation")?
.
Ok, I wasn’t planning to answer the race question, just how many and gender. Is race really required....I thought we were just counting heads!
Holy friggin’ crap! Do you need that much info for a Top Secret clearance?
I do believe they sent out that stupid advance letter the last time also. Seems like a waste to me.
Declaration To Make To Census Takers
“I hereby affirm that the provisions of Title 13 ``requiring’’ me to disclose my race, personal financial data, birthdate, or any other personal, private information to the Bureau of the Census, an agency of the United States government; constitutes an unreasonable, unwarranted search of my person, house, papers, and/or effects; and a governmental invasion of the sanctity of my home and the privacies of life. As such, these provisions violate the Fourth Amendment of the US Constitution, and are thus wholly void and I am not bound to obey them.
I have completed the only those sections of the Census form pertaining to the Constitutionally-mandated actual enumeration, as follows:
1. The actual number of people living at the address printed on the form, excluding untaxed Native Americans;
2. Age of each person in accordance with US Const. Amendment XIV, Section 2.
3. Sex of each person, in accordance with US Const. Amendment XIV, Section 2.
I have thus fulfilled my obligation to the attainment of the actual enumeration of the populace of the United States.
Any fine or other sanction that is levied by any office or organization stemming from the unconstitutional provisions of Title 13 in connection with my response to this or any other Census-related questioning will be challenged in a court of law.”
They call it something different. Very liberal democrat neighbor got one last month. She refused to answer some of the questions...way too invasive even for her.
They have been calling her twice a day for the past two weeks with questions regarding the answers.
I just smiled as she told me her woe.
Geez...I’m sorry.....
a bit cornfused which post was which.
Race has been on most censuses since the early 1800s.
How many toilets in your home?
How many cars do you have in your driveway?
How much do you make?
Are you employed or unemployed?
Are you registered to a political party? Which one.
.......................
I wonder if this is cutting into Obama’s airtime...
I asked for their ID. One showed me his driving license the other just looked confused.
Told them to come back when they have credentials.
So far - no return visit.
Boycotting the census would be playing into their hands. Tell them how many people live in your household and then tell them to f*** off.
