My nation is hardly perfect in human rights. A very large number of our citizens are incarcerated in prison, and there is little doubt that the death penalty is imposed most harshly on those who are poor, black, or mentally ill. For more than a quarter century, we have struggled unsuccessfully to guarantee the basic right of universal health care for our people. but Cuba has superb systems of health care and universal education. Thus did a former President of the United States prostrate himself before a regime that jailed and tortured political prisoners at a higher rate than Stalins and murdered (in absolute numbers) more political prisoners in its first three years in power (out of a population of 6.4 million) than Hitlers murdered in its first six years (out of a population of 70 million.) Not to mention that Pres. Carters host insulted his nation as a vulture preying on humanity! and came within a hair of nuking it.

Unluckily for the above news analysts and Human Rights spokespersons, the people cursed by fate to live under Castro/Stalinism have a drastically different story to tell, as we already saw here.
And even more unluckily for Castro and his MSM auxiliaries, the internet has pulled a stunning and (to them) infuriating end run around his traditional MSM defenses. So word is getting out. Which means the story is getting even better (meaning horribly worse) and the rotten egg on the face of Castros media courtesans gets even thicker and more malodorous as week chases week.
During that cold snap in mid-January Cuban dissidents snuck out (by internet) a report claiming that over forty patients had somehow frozen to death in Cubas Mazorra mental hospital (not far from the one featured in Sicko.) Cubas Stalinist regime--along with the journalistic valets, eunuchs and courtesans to whom it grants press bureaus and journalist visas-- were utterly mum on the matter, however.
It took three days (as the word spread through the mostly Spanish language web) but finally the Stalinist regime issued a terse and exculpatory press release on the matter.
Just last week, pictures of some of the dead were snuck out of Cuba, which proved that hypothermia alone was not the cause of death, any more than it was the cause of the death for the prisoners at Dachau or Buchenwald. Horrific malnutrition and savage beatings were plain to see for anyone genuinely interested in the causes.
Needless to add, such interested parties do not include any of the journalistic valets, eunuchs and courtesans who have earned press bureaus and journalist visas from Castro. True to form, these dutifully connived with Cubas Stalinist regime, as they have for half a century, to hide the catalogue of Castroite horrors.
But dont take my word for it. Apparently tormented by their consciences, two Spanish Journalists have just released mea-culpa books (sadly available only in Spanish) about this conniving. Self-censorship is a very common practice, one writes. No journalist on the island can write the truth of what happens there. Whatever their faults, at least these Spanish journalists finally came clean. On the other hand, Barbara Walters, Dan Rather, Andrea Mitchell, Ted Turner, Herbert Matthews, etc. etc. etc?
The Cuban health stories ignored or buried by the MSM would require an entire 24-hour network broadcasting for five decades to disclose. Senor Marzo Fernandez, an economist who (until defecting in 1996) served as Secretary General of Castros Ministry of Nutrition, gets us started.
The average height of Cubans has decreased by 8 centimeters in the past 25 years. He reported on Miami television. For the first time in Cuban history, thousands of Macrocepahlic children (abnormally large heads in proportion to their bodies) due to protein (primarily milk) deficiencies have been found in the eastern provinces.
This in a country that prior to the glorious revolution enjoyed a lower infant-mortality rate and more doctors and dentists per-capita than half of European countries, plus a larger middle class than Switzerland

Many have been documenting and broadcasting accounts of Castro and Che Guevaras butcheries, imbecilities and cowardice for decades -- but the mainstream media was too busy eating out of Castros hand like trained pigeons to pay attention. So these horrors could never make it past the mainstream media filter

To be blunt, I do not believe your post. Our MSM and the Democratic leadership constantly hold CUBA up as the shining example for the USA to emulate in the field of health care. Would they tell an untruth?
I read of the many, many suffering Americans who find a way to go to Cuba to have their ailments cared for and cured. Those without the means to pay their way, brave the fickle seas in rickety boat, making their way the 90 miles to the medical wonders found in Cuba.
I wonder which will occur first..the death of the Communist regime in Cuba or the death of the lying MEDIA in the USA.

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.
Hopefully these folks will be OUT of a job come Nov.

It depends on your perspective, it works just fine for those in charge who survive the purges. Communist leaders do not gage the success of the system by our criteria. That is why it impossible to convince them with the idea that it impoverishes everyone, they know that already and that is their goal. Their fixation is equality for the peons under their thumb. Prosperity they see as evil and an impediment to the “dictatorship of the proletariat”.
