Michael Moore: 250,000 Killed in Haiti Because It's an Unregulated 'Republican's Paradise'
Newsbusters ^ | 3/6/10 | Brent Baker

Left-wing filmmaker Michael Moore, appearing on Friday night’s Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO to plug the DVD release of his Capitalism: A Love Story screed, cited the 250,000 killed in Haiti, which he snidely described as an unregulated “Republican’s paradise,” as an apt analogy to justify further regulation of U.S. banks.

Live via satellite from Manhattan, Moore spouted:

Chile had an earthquake this past week that was 500 times greater than the earthquake in Haiti. But here's the big difference. In Chile, they have various -- very serious regulations when it comes to building codes. So a thousand people died, sadly, but a thousand people died with a 500 times greater earthquake. And in Haiti, where there are no building codes, no regulations -- a Republican’s pradise -- a quarter of a million people died.

There are TWO steaming, stinking piles of horse dung mentioned in this piece - both interviewer and interviewee qualify.

And neither could hold his own in a debate with a pile of horse manure, no matter how small or large.

The implication/assumption that Republicans are against all regulation is false and invalidates everything else he said. In fact, the anarchy in Haiti is more representative of Moore's “style” than of anything in the Conservative/Capitalist philosophy. The Kleptocratic governments in Haiti with their entitlement mentality are right out of the Rangle/BCC model.

According to PBS.org, the current administration is the result of two stalwart demRats.

September 19, 1994 Invasion of Haiti

After negotiations and sanctions failed, Clinton sent U.S. troops to Haiti to restore ousted President Jean-Bertrand Aristide to power and to head off a potential wave of Haitian refugees. A last-minute deal, brokered by former President Jimmy Carter, allowed the troops to go ashore unopposed by the Haitian military and police. Most U.S. troops withdrew within a year, though several hundred remained to pursue a wide agenda of peacekeeping, humanitarian and engineering activities. While Clinton administration officials consistently hailed the intervention as a model effort to restore democracy and promote stability abroad, political, economic and social conditions gradually eroded. In March 1999, the U.S. commander responsible for the remaining military personnel reportedly recommended ending the five-year military presence on the island due to continuing instability.

And the nominees for Big Fat Stupid Celebs making idiotic public pronouncements are:

Rosanne Barr for insensitive statements about the suicide of Marie Osmonds' son.

Michael Moore for clueless remarks about the cause of Haitian earthquakes.

Rosie O'Donnell for claiming fire can't melt steel.

and the winner is...
