This is “Scott Brown thinking”. That anyone who wins in a Dim stronghold is automatically POTUS material. That a win proves they are such good conservatives that they convinced Dims to vote for them. That logic says that if Whitman pulls out a win in CA, she is somehow a contender in a POTUS race.

Fred Barnes is a political hack and completely out of touch with mainstream small-government conservatives and libertarians.

Cheney was a valuable asset to George Bush, particularly in foreign policy. But I doubt he would even consider a run, given his health condition.

My post was not meant to downplay his obvious positive history, traits, and characteristics, just that he is weak on both Gay Marriage and Abortion, and in my opinion, means that either a man or a woman is unfit for the leadership position of POTUS.

I know ajay_kumar was being sarcastic and I was agreeing with him. I am to blame for not expressing that agreement very well. Thanks SmartInsight.

Barnes also said (in 2008) any Republican who votes against TARP is an idiot. Haven’t watch that news show since.

ajay_kumar, I was agreeing with you wholeheartedly. Please excuse my poor expression of that support.

OR Paul Ryan, he’s certainly the most intelligent on issues that I have heard lately.

Barnes isn’t exactly “from the right”. He’s a squishy centrist at best.

You are so wrong, but that’s part of a free society, right?

George W. Bush was and is a great but imperfect man who gave his all for eight years and does not deserve your crappy comments.

Rick Perry is an opportunistic politician with his hand in every available pocket. He looks good, talks good, and is an empty suit.

Texas has nothing to do with it. Character does.

Packerboy, I’m with you. If Steele tries to trot out Romney or Huckabee the Pubs are things of the past. We need conservatives who have backbone, not more Rinos.

And all I meant was that some people might seem ok, but they just should not be president. In Cheney’s case he has to consider his health and his age, as well as his stance on various issues. Personally, I like watching him heckle from the sidelines. He’s been giving el presidente the beatdown on his foreign policy, and it’s delightful to watch.

Because Fred Barnes is another beltway boy who can’t see west of the Potomac. He’s just like too many Washingtonians who think the sun only rises and stays in the east.

Yeah....I didn’t pay much attention to Mitt Romney before...so I’ve been listening just to see what he’s made of...this only confirmed again he won’t be considered for my vote...everything he says doesn’t convince me he’s at all sincere...like McCain he is saying what he thinks should be said but there’s zero zip conviction there when he says it...he flatlines. The only reason I really listened is what if Sarah doesn’t run..and I get the feel she’s not going to.

Whoever runs has to be able to out do Bo in debates etc...and show it! I think Romney would easily fold. Besides like Paul they had their chance...go back home.

Ryan is the only Republican on the horizon right now that I am impressed with.I am so sick of all these other names floating around for president.

The list is long: Mitch Daniels, John Kasich, Meg Whitman, Bobby Jindal, Haley Barbour, Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Tim Pawlenty, and Jim DeMint. And Perry. You'll notice I haven't mentioned Sarah Palin or Newt Gingrich. ...

LOL!

Palin seems to feel no urgency about 2012. She may be planning a presidential run, but there's no evidence of it.

Actually, Sarah is the only one who has said that if the circumstances are right, she will run.

Instead, she's giving speeches, endorsing Republican candidates, appearing on Fox News, writing a second book, and trying to develop a TV show.

As if this precludes Sarah from running.

Barnes seems to have an agenda here. Either that or he's an idiot.

Thank you for reading my sarcasm.

I can not believe the shallow thinking of many here who would rather have 4 more yesrs of clusterf**k by Obama than some GOP person with whom they probably agree on 60-80% of issues.
