Despite steep odds, the White House has discussed prospects for reviving a major overhaul of the nation's immigration laws, a commitment that President Obama has postponed once already. Obama took up the issue privately with his staff Monday in a bid to advance a bill through Congress before lawmakers become too distracted by approaching midterm elections. In the session, Obama and members of his Domestic Policy Council outlined ways to resuscitate the effort in a White House meeting with two senators -- Democrat Charles E. Schumer of New York and Republican Lindsey Graham of South Carolina -- who have spent months trying to craft a bill. According to a person familiar with the meeting, the White House may ask Schumer and Graham to at least produce a blueprint that could be turned into legislative language. The basis of a bill would include a path toward citizenship for the 10.8 million people living in the U.S. illegally. Citizenship would not be granted lightly, the White House said. Undocumented workers would need to register, pay taxes and pay a penalty for violating the law. Failure to comply might result in deportation.

This should push those poll numbers sky high.
Conveniently absent from the healthcare reform debate in recent months has been how we will deal with paying for healthcare services used by illegal aliens. Remember last fall when ObaMAO promised that illegals wouldn’t be covered by the House/Senate bills? His speeches changed the number of uninsured from 46M to 30M without coverage, apparently to exclude illegals from the universal coverage mandate. I am stupefied that this aspect of the debate isn’t discussed. The current House/Senate bills provide no solutions to dealing with illegals using medical services (i.e., emergency rooms as primary care centers).
Well, now we know how this part of the SCAM is meant to work. He was telling the truth - no illegals will be covered. There just won’t be any illegals anymore...
The House/Senate bills are a FRAUD on the American people.
Obama is already working on disarmament - he’s trying to for unilateral nuclear disarmament.
I'm truly sick of that RINO clown! He's a disgrace!
All the numbers of illegals are based on a wild guess originally suggested by the early Bush administration and was never factually verified. Started at 8 million and then widely broadcast ever since at 13 million. The Pew Foundation and others have done studies and more reliably estimate the number at 50-55 million....and considering that they are cranking out babies every 9 months, the number is more likely over 100 million. Look around you...all the stores and schools are filled with Hispanics. The Los Angeles City School District itself estimates that 85-95% of its students are Hispanics. WE HAVE BEEN OVERRUN AND THAT IS WHY THE DEMOCRATS WILL DO ANYTHING THEY CAN TO GET THOSE VOTES...AND IF THEY DO, WE WILL NEVER GET RID OF THE DEMS IN OFFICE!
"Distracted" indeed! You know, having to get re-elected by those pesky voters in your district you visit a couple times a year. You know, "distracted" by trying somehow to get votes from those pesky voters you've outraged beyond imagining.
Somehow, I think the House Dims are already "distracted", so please, please, please pour some more gasoline on the voters and light the match 3-4 months before the election. Oh Yeah, start hammering on the House Dims with radical immigration "reform" legislation even before you force them to commit political suicide by swallowing the radioactive Obamacare pill.
Just do it! Yes you can!

Like he hasn’t burned enough bridges with the American electorate.
This is a Democratic wedge issue. They’re hoping to split the GOP over this just before the election. Considering people like Gramnesty... it could work.
“Any fool knew this was coming. This is one of the main reasons Obama is so rabid about passing the big health care giveaway to illegals. Buying votes. People must learn that none of this is about health care for the people it is about POWER AND CONTROL for Obama.”
Exactly. The promoters of this bill CIR/ASAP are organized and well financed.

March on D.C., or he will pull it off!
When you tire, think of the founders. . .
And if he thinks people are PO’d now . . .just wait
Add thirty million more to their phonyass healthcare cost figures. What’s that going to do to CommieCare?
20million lying socialist.
“March on D.C., or he will pull it off!”
The opposition is certainly planning on marching.
Obama risks alienating Latinos with lack of immigration reform
Mar. 5, 2010
I have known Barack Obama since 1986, when we were both community organizers. I am still organizing on the streets of Chicago, and what I see in the Latino community makes me fear that the president is oblivious to the pain wrought by our broken immigration system. It could have a profound effect on the 2010 and 2012 elections.
For a brief moment last year it appeared that Obama might realign the modern political map, cementing the Latino vote into the Democratic coalition by speaking plainly to the American people on the need for comprehensive immigration reform.
Instead, he squandered a political gift handed to him by the Republican Party’s nativist wing — and its anti-immigrant rhetoric — during the 2008 campaign. Candidate Obama promised to make immigration reform a priority during his first year in office, and the Latino vote surged to 10 million, from 7.8 million in 2004, and swung eight percentage points toward the Democrats.
After he went into politics, Obama and I worked collegially on issues as diverse as health care for working families to citizenship for new Americans
Obama was shocked at the visceral anger the fence vote caused among his closest Latino allies. At a meeting for damage control, Carmen Velásquez, founder of the Alivio Medical Center for the uninsured and the closest thing to the patron saint of the Mexican American poor, refused to shake his hand. Obama apologized for not understanding the intensity of their feelings —
Obama must lead the charge for immigration reform by telling Americans the truth: that tough, fair and compassionate immigration reform is necessary for America’s economy and national security, and not just for Latino voters. He must also, somehow, convince Latinos that he really does feel their pain. [snips]

Both parties deprecated war, but one of them would make war rather than let the nation survive, and the other would accept war rather than let it perish, and the war came.
Your statement is absolutely the truth and MUST be repeated, often! I get so frustrated with friends/family that are so concerned about what's in the *healthcare* bill.
It's all about THEIR control over you. They don't care ONE WIT about your HEALTH!!
