Obama believes he can beat those four.

What frightens the One is a Candidate who can energize White working-class voters into voting along “Reagan Democrat lines” i.e. Republican.

That is a “turnover” in football terms - taking something from the enemy to use for yourself.

To take 5% of voters from the Democrats in some states and add their votes to her own tally - only someone like Sarah Palin can do that to Obama.

That's why The MSM has their orders from their leftist masters to cut Sarah down at any cost using every dirty trick possible.

From ODH, post 189: Oh my goodness. Charles Krauthammer is one of the most articulate and powerful critics of Barack Obama in all of media. If you don't think Krauthammer is a Republican or a conservative, I don't even know how to respond.

This assertion, which ODH has flacked around FR before, is absolute rubbish. Krauthammer criticizes Obama because Obama is a threat to the establishment status quo which Krauthammer cherishes. He does not do it as a conservative.

Charles Krauthammer is a brilliant man. He is a perceptive and insightful analyst on many topics, particularly geopolitical power issues and the threats posed to this country by both enemy nations and non-state actors, e.g. terrorists. He also offers useful insights regarding the power struggles between various traditional establishment blocs such as the Democratic and Republican parties, the Executive versus the Legislative branches, etc..

I read his articles and recommend others do so as well for the many helpful perspectives he offers on those types of topics. I also caution against blind acceptance of him or any other pundit or public figure as a reputable authority.

That said, the one thing Krauthammer is not is a conservative. I've confronted OldDeckHand before on this assertion that Krauthammer is a conservative, and I presented him with the following quote:

"Ultimately, a civilized society must disarm its citizenry if it is to have a modicum of domestic tranquility of the kind enjoyed by sister democracies such as Canada and Britain. Given the frontier history and individualist ideology of the United States, however, this will not come easily. It certainly cannot be done radically. It will probably take one, maybe two generations. It might be 50 years before the United States gets to where Britain is today. Passing a law like the assault weapons ban is a symbolic - purely symbolic - move in that direction. Its only real justification is not to reduce crime but to desensitize the public to the regulation of weapons in preparation for their ultimate confiscation." - Charles Krauthammer, "Disarm the Citizenry," The Washington Post, Friday, April 5, 1996, page A19

Krauthammer has never apologized for nor recanted this position. It is not possible to hold this position and be a conservative. It is not even possible to hold this position and honor an oath to uphold and defend the US Constitution.

I received no response at the time, and he and the other party who were flacking the "Krauthammer is a conservative" meme immediately departed and the thread died.

Again, Krauthammer is no conservative. Calling him a liberal is not quite accurate either. Those labels are simply inadequate. What he is is an elitist authoritarian statist who, by his own words, cares not one whit for the ideas and principles regarding the inalienable rights and freedom of individuals put forth in the Declaration of Independence and codified and guaranteed in the US Constitution.

Krauthammer is indeed brilliant, and he can be useful at times and on certain issues, but he is no friend of the American people, the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. And, citing him as a conservative authority is nonsense. You might, at times, find him fighting beside you as the enemy of your enemy, but despite that much overused adage, it doesn't make him your friend.

Well said. Appreciate reading a post from someone who
has a grasp of the issues and is in the world of reality.

Thanks for both your responses. It’s unfortunate that discourse on FR has deteriorated so much. Respectful disagreement is fine, but so many of these threads are nothing but flame bait these days.

Many of the posters, including some who get a little too “worked up”, are sincere and merely frustrated. However, there is a subgroup who know exactly what they’re doing and are only interesting in inflaming emotions and precluding or forestalling serious debate. They’re doing the online equivalent of Saul Alinsky’s “jamming” strategy.

Did you all see the post about Media Matters hiring professional trolls to go out and cause trouble on conservative sites?

This is true.
Most of my posts are on threads countering various trolls
and the 3rd Party loons.
They think posting lies often enough some will believe it.

Having delt face to face in counter rallies vs Code Pinkos, pro Hamas, and PaulBots - They all have the same talking points.

I listened to him carefully during the 2008 election cycle and in general he was anything but a conservative in his statements as well as many of the articles he authored during that period. He is indeed brilliant, but like many people who are genius he is also a bit of an intellectual snob.

I will have to check that out. Thanks for the heads up AC.
There are enough trolls on FR, the new ones will have to fight for space.

I see their posts and then others here pick it up and continue with it.

The PaulBots are already organizing here behind the scenes for 2012, I’ve received multiple PM’s until I said do not PM me with anything Ron Paul.. I think they come on here and then spam everyone, I can’t think of any other reason they would PM me since I have never had a kind word to say about the man.

Huh? Why would Obama be afraid of the only politician in America who polls with higher “unfavorables” than he does?

...if I had Sarah Palin’s ear, would highly recommend that she gets serious & wonkish in her next public appearance. She needs to fight the perception that she’s a lightweight and a flake. The comedy stand-up routine, while fun, doesn’t do her any favors on that front.

I've worked with some women who, like Sarah, came into a work setting highly motivated, competent, sharp, professional, ...

Governor Sarah Palin executing her duties as Governor, signing legislation.

Sarah with National Guard

Sarah at the Pipeline

... who then, upon hitting some resistance from the corrupt Old Boys Club, softened their demeanor,

... perhaps even occasionally playing the "bimbo" role,

... biding their time, waiting for just the right moment to reassert themselves seriously, ...

... then before the Old Boys knew what hit them, ...

Sarah Shooting

Sarah Bleeding out a Caribou

... they were hanging in the cooler.

Sarah Fishing

[It seems to me that ANYONE who apires to the most important job in the world can pen a book all by themselves, especially when that book is actually about themselves.]

And how many books have you yourself written, since it seems you have so much expertise in the matter. I’m about to publish my fourth, plus a bunch of manuscripts. I’m sure you are a lot smarter than I am on the subject.

"And how many books have you yourself written, since it seems you have so much expertise in the matter."

I'm sorry, am I running for President?

"I’m sure you are a lot smarter than I am on the subject."

Again, Madame Strawman, did you find those words in ANY of my posts?

One last time - someone who aspires to be President, should be able to write a book about themselves all by themselves. That doesn't seem like a difficult concept to grasp, nor does one need be in the publishing business to grasp it.

“Again, Madame Strawman,”

Well, let’s just reduce the argument to name calling, Little Miss Pantybunch. I believe that is your goal on this thread anyway.
