Exclusive: Delays in ‘Virtual’ Border Fence Puts U.S. at Further Security Risk

[snips]When it comes to the idea of a “virtual fence” on our border with Mexico, the government should simply refer to this fiasco as “Operation Back-Rub,” along with all of the other military-sounding projects aimed at protecting our nation from the massive influx of illegal aliens, among whom are criminals and, undoubtedly, terrorist sympathizers and terrorists.
For far too long, our government has been able to get away with creating illusions that do not match reality. It has whittled away at our expectations of privacy and freedom in the name of national security and yet refuses to truly secure our borders and create an immigration system that has real integrity. In the quest for the creation of the illusion of living up to its obligations, our nation’s “leaders” have squandered billions of hard-earned taxpayer dollars while our borders are as porous as a sieve. Additionally, the immigration bureaucracy that alleges to represent the “legal” process for aliens to seek to secure resident alien status and even United States citizenship rewards massive levels of fraud and makes an absolute mockery of those true immigrants whose lifelong dream is to legally immigrate to the United States, play by the rules and follow our nation’s laws to become a part of this nation.
The fence on the border in and of itself will not protect our nation. However, it should be an integral component of an immigration system that secures the sovereignty of our nation’s borders and aids in protecting our nation and our citizens from the unlawful entry of illegal aliens, including criminals and terrorists, as well as a wide variety of contraband such as narcotics, counterfeit goods that may compromise public health and safety, and even weapons of mass destruction.
Every unsecured mile of border provides criminals, terrorists and other illegal aliens ample opportunity to enter our country without detection. Think about how much destruction just 19 terrorists inflicted on our nation on September 11, 2001.
When President John F. Kennedy established the goal of sending American astronauts to the moon and returning them safely to the earth, this audacious proposal was to be carried out in less than a decade, marking the last time that the American “Can do!” spirit was applied.
Today, our nation is the nation of “Can’t do” with an explanation and an excuse explaining yet another failure.
Is this acceptable?

SNIPPET: “Henderson County, N.C. — Henderson County deputies arrested two men accused of stealing railroad spikes from Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks.
The men were arrested after deputies were called to investigate suspicious activity on the tracks near West Blue Ridge Road in the Flatrock area of Henderson County.
During the investigation, deputies found the men had more than 500 spikes that had been taken from a stretch of active railroad tracks.
Henderson County Sheriff Tim Davis said, “This act of theft could have easily had catastrophic consequences had a train derailed in this area.””

More on this. The photos don’t look like the typical gang types, so they could be just willing dupes. Nevertheless, if a train derails because of intent or stupidity it would be just as tragic.

Two men face deportation after they were arrested in the theft of more than 500 railroad spikes from train tracks still in use in western North Carolina.

The men were charged in connection with the spikes from train tracks near Flat Rock.
Police said they found Cruz Mario Carnacion, 37, and Jose Luis Trejo-Yanez, 35, with more than 500 7-inch steel spikes, which can be sold for scrap.
Henderson County Sheriff Rick Davis said the missing spikes could have caused a derailment.
The men are charged with conspiracy to damage railroad property, willful injury to railroad property and trespassing on railroad property.
The men are being held on Immigration and Customs Enforcement orders pending deportation proceedings.

lol....Maybe they’re welding them onto long rods for ladders to sell back to the other aliens for $500 each before they let them cross. Seems like they all want a piece of the smuggling action.
I know they’ve been stealing aluminum nuts and utility box doors etc, but iron? I guess it all adds up for scrap value.

Well, in any case, they know the danger to the train and didn’t care...they just want a ‘better life’ no matter how many of us are sacrificed for it. I lived near a railroad track when I was 4 years old and knew it was BAD to pull out a spike.

Texas train derailment causes evacuations
A train derailment prompted evacuations in Santa Fe, Texas Thursday morning. The mishap, reported around 3:45 a.m. caused police to ask residents in the heavily populated area to evacuate. The train was carrying liquid petroleum gas.
I find it sad but true that obama’s predesesor did not enforce the integrity of our borders either.

TWO ILLEGAL ALIENS, Cruz Mario Carnacion, 37 and Jose Luis Trejo-Yanez were arrested in possession of more than 500 STOLEN 7-inch spike's that were taken from the railroad tracks owned by Norfolk Southern Railroad.This latest incident is similar to arrests of illegal aliens stealing railroad tracks and spikes from railroads near Yuma, AZ, by US Customs and Border Patrol March 11, 2008.

Just stealing the railroad spikes not even native born Americans want to steal. But we shouldn’t be so hard on them. After all, no human is illegal and they just came here for a better life. /sarcasm
