I know they’ve been stealing aluminum nuts and utility box doors etc, but iron? I guess it all adds up for scrap value.
I’d tie them to the tracks and let them meet hayzeuz that way.

Well, in any case, they know the danger to the train and didn’t care...they just want a ‘better life’ no matter how many of us are sacrificed for it. I lived near a railroad track when I was 4 years old and knew it was BAD to pull out a spike.

What if some terrorist organization is paying good money for railroad spikes in order to get people to sabotage working rail lines? They could even set up a phony operation of turning them into souvenirs to make it appear legitimate.
It would be interesting to see just where this is taking place. Are the sites near chemical plants, for instance?
