"Chairman Charlie Rangel has informed me of his request for a leave of absence from his duties and responsibilities as Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means. I will honor his request.
"I commend Chairman Rangel for his decades of leadership on jobs, health care, and the most significant economic issues of the day."
“I also thank Mr. Rangel for voluntarily stepping down because if our party had to take any action against him, the entire black voting population would be angry.”

I still don’t see how this changes anything. I guess I would have to be a democrat to understand the “logic” in this case.
Are there any examples in history that can be compared to this instance?
Did the CEO of Enron take a leave of absence? I know Patrick Kennedy has checked himself into rehab a couple of times.
Do the democrats really think this going to help their cause?
Rangle is a crook and an embarassement to the country and everyone in Congress and the United States knows it. If the black population doesn’t like his removal, so be it. Those in Congress that don’t remove him, cancel all his benefits, stop his pay, should also be removed from office.
Question.....Does Rangle receive full pay while on leave? If he does, it’s another slap in the face of the people.

I read it as he is still Chairman, but is on a leave of absence until a later time when the news cycle moves on.
Then the spin will be, “we have been through all of that before, its old news and was examined and resolved weeks ago
