I thought she was genuinely funny and had a good time. Leno was very affable... if you see the ratings compared to Romney on Letterman please ping me.

I went offline last night after I saw the thread, but I was here working and watched her live. We get Leno in Arizona at 10:30. Only a few more weeks and the nation goes on Daylight Savings time and we will be back in the same time frame as California over here.

“This is an opinion site, and people have opinions. I disagreed with the opinion about jeans, but it is getting a little creepy how many people seem insistent that nobody should be allowed to dislike Sarah’s jeans.
Do we really have to all agree about fashion now?”

Well Charles, nobody has to agree about fashion, but as Rod Serling might have said “submitted for your consideration”:

TEN bloody posts all complaining about Sarah’s JEANS?!?! And then there is post #620:

Her glasses are perfect. Love them. They absolutely suit her. She has beautiful hair as well with just the right amount of highlights. SHE KNOWS HOW TO DRESS AND KNOWS WHAT LOOKS GOOD ON HER. [emphasis mine, mkj]

If Sarah knows how to dress and knows what looks good on her, why so much damn cranking about her freakin’ JEANS fer gawdsakes?!?!

Just sayin’ Charles...

The funny thing was, I didn’t even notice she was wearing jeans. :-)

It was always my complaint that the one guy who we KNEW was corrupted by campaign donations (the Keating 5), was the one arguing that none of his colleagues could be trusted not to be corrupted by campaign donations.

And the media would always tell us how he knew “personally” the temptations of too much money in politics, as if being corruptable was a prerequisite for being able to fix corruption.

But I acknowledge that my point was somewhat obscure.

I’d love to see Ann Coulter as President Palin’s Whitehouse Press Secretary.

I’d love to see Ann Coulter

Medicare is paid by an income tax surcharge, and the amount paid in has no relationship to the amount a person might receive in the program.

Sure, at some level, EVERY government program is an entitlement to me, since I pay taxes, but it doesn’t make sense to suggest that I should argue that government should keep it’s hands off of every program they run that I don’t get my “fair share” out of.

Social Security is a defined benefit plan, where you “earn” the money you get at retirement based on how much money you pay into the system. They even cut off the payment when you hit the benefit limits of the program.

Medicare is not. It’s government-run single-payer health care, paid for by a non-graduated income tax surcharge.

Good job on that, BTW. I was just surprised you were able to avoid all knowledge of Adam Lambert, given that not only was he a pop culture icon because of American Idol, but also there was extensive spillover into the political arena because of his sexual preference.

Discussions even spilled into this forum.

But actually, I was more just trying to be funny — I don’t think people really need to know who Adam Lambert is. I wish I didn’t. :-)

Thank you. As was correctly posted:

Um, not quite, FRiend. In post your #517 to me, you didn't include the complimentary words Romney had for Sarah. You said "The bastard Mitt RomneyCARE evaded and did NOT answer":

Romney was NOT complimentary. See #1 and #2.

The bastard Mitt RomneyCARE evaded and did NOT answer.

Romney didn't answer Letterman's question about "presidential readiness", but he did give an answer in the form of a compliment for Sarah, back-handed though it may have been.

Per kristinn's thread, here is the correct exchange, verbatim:

“Now what about that Sarah Palin," says Letterman, who had to apologize for an off-color joke about the former Alaskan governor's daughter last year. "She’s not ready to be president, is she?”

“She’s terrific,” Romney rapidly replies to derisive audience laughter. “She really is! She’s terrific. She’s got energy, passion – by the way, you know, be careful what you say about her.”

Letterman says he knows.

Romney adds with a smile, “She has a rifle, you know.”

Me, too -- but I understand that that position has already been claimed by a DIFFERENT "Warrior Princess." :o)

I still prefer the old "Don't ask, don't tell" policy.
RonDog to Adam Lambert: "I'm NOT asking, so please don't TELL me." ;)

I stand corrected.

Mitt RomneyCARE should have said “YES, absolutely, positively”
BUT Team Romney has been busy with his antiPalin schemes.
It showed. And mentioning the “rifle” is no substitute
for saying “YES, definitely, for sure”, is it? You betcha.

Am transfixed by this thread, I missed the entire thing and am having a great time getting all the feedback about it from fellow Freeps.

That said, the pic you posted of Gibbs, that I am responding to now, gives me a chill. I looked at it and suddenly it occurred to me exactly who that butthead reminds me of...

did you happen to see the movie 'Men In Black'? There was an alien that looked most like a HUGE cockroach in his true existence but upon reaching earth, crammed his alien body into the shell of a human he killed and hollowed out.

It's Gibbs. Your photo, his expression, stance and of course his stupidity and penchant for using his podium as a means to abuse the power it holds is a perfect fit.

Hey, I don't like Romney, but it's pretty clear to me he will run for President in 2012. I think he was just acting like any other potential candidate for President: "Hey, she's terrific, yada, yada". But he wouldn't give a firm YES that a potential rival - especially such a charismatic one like Sarah - is indeed "qualified to be President".

Romney, the Huckster, Pawlenty, or even a more conservative presidential candidate... it wouldn't surprise me if they were also evasive in answering that "Is Palin qualified to be president?" question either. At this point anyway... we'll see as we get closer to the 2012 election.

I kinda agree.

I don't want Sarah to be a fashionista in the extreme. Although when she wore the absolutely beautiful suits during the campaign that were paid for by some fund or other that got the libs in an uproar...I did notice that she looked quite b.reathtaking.

That said..Michelle uhbama seems to be very determined to be known as a fashionista icon and I truly think EVERY thing I have seen her in looks PUTRID. I mean it. She wears clothes that do not look GOOD on her body and even off her body seems ugly.

I hope Sarah just stays Sarah, and as her personal fortune increases, I am sure her wardrobe will begin to exhibit more of the look that so upset the press.

But I don't think any of us will EVER strip Sarah of her background, her love of what is REAL and GOOD and SOLID and her clothes will probably always reflect her values.

I'm surprised you think everyone knows about him - never heard about him nor saw him before. After he came on after Sarah, I turned the TV off thinking, not watching TV sure has it's benefits - what a depraved society. Is he aiming to be the new Michael Jackson w/his makeup and clothes?

No surprise here...4.6 household rating/12 share for Leno vs. 3.1 household rating/8 share for the other guy.
