Women Desire Real Men, Not Metrosexuals

For the last decade, American men have been inundated with the idea that women prefer men who are in touch with their feminine side, men who are not afraid to spend a little extra time in front of the mirror, and maybe even wear a little make up to highlight the features of their face. We are told that men like John Kerry and Barack Obama are what women really want. Men who are not only unashamed of their femininity, but men who will even go so far as to display such faith in their feminism in public as Obama has time and time again.

Well, please allow me to set the record straight, because it seems that Al Gore, John Kerry, and Barack Obama are really not the type men that turn the ladies on. I found this survey from a deodorant company that inherently, just makes sense to me. I had not heard of this survey before now, but I have read numerous reports in Australian and European papers about it. I'd link you to the survey itself, if only I could find it, but like many polls and surveys it has disappeared within a few months. As I stated, most of my facts about this survey have been gleaned from information I could attain from the many articles written about the results. I must admit that I'm delighted with the findings, for me they make total sense. My guess is that the MSM would rather the men of America continue believing that women desire the kind of feminine men that currently occupy the White House. However, the way companies advertise their products proves that the following results of this survey must be true.

In an independent study commissioned by Lynx deodorant, 2800 women from 14 countries ranging from the ages of 18-34 were asked what they like in men. It turns out that 80% of women would rather have a man who is capable of being "sensitive without losing his masculinity". Women it turns out, are not much into the sensitive new-age guy who is touch with his feminine side. They want a man who can light their fires and

I just realized that I never pinged my list about the article I wrote on Friday about the poll that shows women like real man not metrosexuals. You may have already seen it and if so I apologize for pinging you needlessly.

Don't know how I got pinged on this one, but here's my two cents (it's probably worth less). I don't think there's any formula for what attracts women to certain men or vice versa. It's a chemistry thing. I've been in love with so many “stars” throughout my salad days — starting with Earl Flynn and ending up with Johnnie Depp. All have played fascinating roles and had that je n’cest quoi.

The point is, all of them were good actors, reading outstanding lines. Real guys and real women don't get screen writers to converse. They don't get background music to enhance the moment. They all have body flaws that aren't camouflaged by the best photographers in history through a gauze lens. They're real, warts and all people.

For me, to look at a hottie has never under any stretch of the imagination been the arbiter of last resort. The proof is in real life. Would you love him or her if they just let a beer fart? Would you kiss them before they brushed their teeth in the morning? Would you actually have or let them have you child? Would you go through life with them as a partner? If you answer yes to all those questions — great. Now I have one more. Would you forgive them for cheating on you, hurting you more deeply than you thought imaginable, or in spite of it, throw yourself in front of a bus to save them? If the answer is yes, then you can honestly say you are the perfect woman or man and you've found the perfect woman or man for you.

For everyone who is so hung up on metro, homo, hetero, I say it's whatever floats your boat and whoever you'd bail the water to save for all your life that is the real hottie. But as my father used to say, "just because you're on a diet, doesn't mean you can't look at the menu." As my mother used to sweetly reply, "You're right, Sweetheart, and I think she's just about Kathy's (i.e. me) age." They were as in love the day he died as the day they married, still held hands in the grocery store and my friends thought it was cute that they used to dance to their music and smooch on the couch. I'd take that over all the "stars" in the heavens. I'll bet they would, too.
