WASHINGTON -- Former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney met for coffee in their first reunion since President Barack Obama's inauguration more than a year ago.
Bush and Cheney met Thursday in the Washington area, Cheney's office said in a statement, declining to give the location. ABC News aired video of Bush shaking Cheney's hand in front of Cheney's Virginia home.
The meeting came the day after Cheney left a Washington hospital, where he was treated after a mild heart attack.
Bush has kept out of the spotlight since leaving office. Bush took Obama up on the president's request in January to work with former President Bill Clinton to raise money to help Haiti recover from a devastating earthquake.
Cheney, in contrast, has continued to be a prominent voice in the Republican Party and an outspoken Obama critic.

Kinda says it all!
Perhaps Bush knew that right or wrong, he had become a lightning rod for anger and decided perhaps it would be best if he stayed out of the public eye.
Bush has been busy building the border fence to keep illegals out of America.....(/sarc)
Now that line has me chuckling...visual picture I guess.
Oh, to be a fly on the wall at that meeting! Doncha just wonder what was actually said?
Oh, please.
That is a ridiculous insinuation.
The Bushes, like Reagan, but unlike Clinton and Obama, have a high respect for the office of President. W is staying out of the spotlight, as his father did during the Clinton years, because it’s the right thing to do.
It is respectful and proper for the predecessor to stay out of the way and give the new guy a chance to do his job, no matter, in the current case, how badly.
And it is totally proper for others of the opposition (i.e. Cheney) to voice their opinions loud and clear.
(It is also proper for the new guy to take on the office and quit blaming his predecessor, but that’s another discussion.)
Class is class, regardless of how those around you are acting.
George W. Bush has acted with grace since he left office, and I admire him for it.
But the Progressive movement is all about power and winning, there is nothing they will not do to achieve their ends. This will be our ultimate downfall. But it is out there for all to see, just read Genesis.

Bush: "But, but, but...Dick, Ah am jest tryin' to act presuhdenchal. You gotta remembuh that ah praised Barack on things like Aids to Africa, an' educashun, an nuklah disarmamunt. And remembuh also back in Semptembuh that Laura said she thought he is doin' a good job despite all the bickerin' on our side. Ah am jest tryin' to show some class."
Cheney: "Well, excuse me Mr. President, but in my opinion you're not showing class you're showing something that rhymes with it!"
BDS. Still, there is no cure.
From Bush’s comments at a Washington breakfast today:
“I have no desire to see myself on television. I dont want to be a panel of formers instructing the currents on what to do. Im trying to regain a sense of anonymity. I didnt like it when a certain former president and it wasnt 41 or 42 made my life miserable.”
ass, bass, basse, blass, bras, brass, cas, cass, chasse, crass, das, dass, fahs, fass, gas, gass, glas, glass, gras, grass, grasse, hass, jass, kass, klas, klass, kras, krass, lass, last, mass, mass., masse, nass, pass, pasts, plas, plass, plasse, ras, sas, sass, sasse, tass, vass, yass
I guess you mean the first one?
“BDS. Still, there is no cure.”
Absolutely. At this point, it should be clear that anyone claiming to be a conservative, yet defending a liberal like GWB must indeed suffer from some sort of syndrome.
Not a syndrome. An allergy. To bullshit.
“Not a syndrome. An allergy. To bullshit.”
Oh, yes it is. True BDS is defending the indefensible.
No, just bored with pointing out how many miles of fence were built.
“No, just bored with pointing out how many miles of fence were built.”
Not enough and what was built was entirely inadequate.
Thank you. Claiming dissatisfaction with the portion of the fence that was built is not an example of BDS. Spouting nonsense (not you, comment #3) under the guise of sarcasm is.
