Invisible supporting cast at health (Dead Sister's Denture) summit
Washington Post ^ | 2/25/2010 | ERICA WERNER

They weren't seen or heard at Thursday's presidential health summit, but a supporting cast of characters haunted the scene, from a woman forced to wear her dead sister's dentures to President Barack Obama's daughters.

These individuals and others emerged briefly throughout the daylong summit hosted by Obama as both Democratic and Republican lawmakers invoked their own personal stories, along with anecdotes from friends and constituents, to try to prove their points. There was a similarity to the touching or troubling stories of people in need even when the tellers were at loggerheads.

Among the vignettes heard Thursday:

-The one from Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-N.Y. drew some stunned looks. She talked of a constituent who had no insurance, had no dentures, and had to wear her death sister's ill-fitting teeth. "You will not believe this, and I know you won't, but it's true," Slaughter said.

I include in this the woman who appeared in front of the committee because her Toyota built car sped up to 100 mph.

I don't remember where this was reported (FOX Grape Vine segment?), but that woman sold that car, eventually, to another woman. The woman who bought the car said she'd never had a problem with the car. It's been a very good car for her.
I think the woman who testified should be checked out a little closer. There MAY be a little perjury ( and the Oboma administration trying to destroy it's non-union competitor?) going on here?

Dental schools provide low cost and free treatment. ...and dental care is generally not all that expensive to begin with.

So why should we have to pay for someone who did not take care of her teeth?

The same reason we have to pay for the abortions of people who are too stupid to wear a condom?

I can’t stop laughing when I think about those recycled false teeth.

Dental schools here are not all that cheap. Routine care is not too bad, but dentures and people with really bad dental problems usually cannot afford even the dental school.

But...as I said there are other programs for the very poor.

Not everyone can have the extremely expensive dental work of Joe Biden or Nancy Pelosi, whom, I suspect, paid for their smiles, hair plugs and face lifts with campaign funds from those rich constituents in their districts who realized they could be bankrupted by these cretins if they did not pay their protection money.

In the old days it was the mob.

From Article: "These individuals and others emerged briefly throughout the daylong summit hosted by Obama as both Democratic and Republican lawmakers invoked their own personal stories, along with anecdotes from friends and constituents, to try to prove their points

Among those was my Senator Patty Murray. I listened carefully as she told about a young boy named Marcellus. Marcellus's mother lost her job therefore she had no insurance. Marcellus's mother died because of this Patty Murray said and she doesn't want to see anymore Marcellus's who has lost their mother because they have no insurance.

I am going to write to Patty Murray and let her know I don't believe a word she said. To start out with if the mother had lost her job she would have no money and could get on Medicaid.

Right here is this very state where Murray is a Senator, Washington State, I know a young black girl who was pregnant out of wedlock. Her pregnancy was covered, her delivery was covered. While in delivery she flatlined and they brought her back. This was in December. Just a couple of weeks ago she had several seizures and was rushed to the local hospital. They medivacked her to the best heart hospital here in our state. Sacred Heart. She is now out of Intensive Care and I don't know if they have found out what is going on, but point is PATTY MURRAY, SHE HAS HAD ALL THE BEST CARE THERE IS AT NO COST TO HER. SO WHO ARE THOSE SUPPOSEDLY 30,000 WHO DON'T GET MEDICAL CARE?

Actually I guess the Democrats don't say they don't get medical care, they say they don't have medical insurance.

...dental care is generally not all that expensive to begin with.

If you never have to visit a dentist, I guess it isn't all that expensive.

On the other hand, most folks who do go to dentists would probably disagree with that statement.

George Washington had wooden dentures. She should take a free carpentry class at the local community college.

IMO, this was the most pathetic anecdote. Most medical insurance doesn’t cover dental. We have great group insurance benefits, but no dental, and I checked, our medical benefits do not cover dentures.

Rush mentioned that Dental is in one part of the Bill.

Can’t remember which part of the Bill he mentioned, but it is in there.

The last time around, I recall Greta’s guy interviewing various people and one was some tool that ran a restaurant and was backing Zero’s plan because he couldn’t afford to offer health insurance to his employees.

I was SCREAMING at the TV—doesn’t he realize that if his restaurant is even the least bit successful he’s totally screwed on taxes?

Typical Zero supporter. Zero brains!

That was my first thought too, and then I thought how any dentists who were listening must have had a shiver run up their back.

I am not sure if the health care bill includes dental coverage or not. But I hear that everyone who supported Obama by voting for the first time in their life will get a choice of dentures or a custom 14 karat grill.

Why didn’t Slaugher buy her some if she is so concerned about her? She has plenty of money. She probably stole, but she has it.
