February 25, 2010 US Refuses To Endorse British Sovereignty in Falklands Oil Dispute
Giles Whittell and James Bone
Washington refused to endorse British claims to sovereignty over the Falkland Islands yesterday as the diplomatic row over oil drilling in the South Atlantic intensified in London, Buenos Aires and at the UN. Despite Britains close alliance with the US, the Obama Administration is determined not to be drawn into the issue. It has also declined to back Britains claim that oil exploration near the islands is sanctioned by international law, saying that the dispute is strictly a bilateral issue.
Argentina appealed to the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki Moon, last night to intervene in the dispute, a move Britain adamantly opposes. The Secretary-General knows about the issue.
We have asked the Secretary-General, within the framework of his good offices, to stress to Britain the need to abstain from further unilateral acts. A top UN aide acknowledged, however, that Mr Ban would not be able to mediate because of Britains opposition.
Sir Mark Lyall Grant, Britains Ambassador to the UN, said: As British ministers have made clear, the UK has no doubt about its sovereignty over the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the Sandwich Islands . . . We are also clear that the Falkland Islands Government is entitled to develop a hydrocarbons industry within its waters, and we support this legitimate business in Falklands territory.
Senior US officials insisted that Washingtons position on the Falklands was one of longstanding neutrality. This is in stark contrast to the public backing and vital intelligence offered by President Reagan to Margaret Thatcher once she had made the decision to recover the islands by force in 1982.

The Bummer admin does not know its rear end from first base.
What a national disgrace.
Hopefully this November America begins to get it’s sanity back.
Zer0, ‘rats and RINOs opposed to all off shore drilling.
Does this moron ever do anything right?
So Obama wants leftist Argentina to go to war against Great Britain. Bad Kenyan, bad bad Kenyan.
Oh Dear. How many bridges will His Highness the O burn.
See, this is why the US London embassy needs to be a billion dollar plus fortress.

Putting aside the fact that as a statesman, Zero is not even in the same solar system as Ronald Reagan, since the UK is going over to the Muslims, maybe its time to side with Argentina.
Payback for the slavery thing...
Is this a part of some strategy to somehow win over the Muslim world by ticking off every REAL friend we have in the world?? How’s that workin’ so far, Zero?
Great Britain to United Nations: We don’t need no stinking advice or permission from corrupt, immoral, institution that is about as relevant to the situation as a dodo bird.
Ya mean the Royal Navy suppressing the Muslim run East Africa Slave trade?
To our friends and allies in England, we apologize for the disgraceful actions and position this administration has continually taken towards Great Britain since Obama has become president. Believe us when we say that we are ashamed and value your friendship and support.
Or the treatment of Obama's grandfather by the British during the Mau Mau uprising.
Yesterday England, this morning Japan.....tomorrow the world.

Stupid doesn’t describe Barak. But let’s give the guy a break. He hasn’t spent much time in the U.S., so he may not be aware of the long ties between America and Great Britian :)
You mean the same muslim world that enslaves(ed) blacks and sold them in America? Yeah, they always complain of the 1800s but never of their affinities for the 1700s where Americans were persecuted in Europe and blacks enslaved by racist muslims to this day in Sudan.
Oh my gosh. What a putz.
