Ron Paul grills Bernanke: Wasn’t the Fed involved with Saddam and in Watergate?
Hot Air ^ | FEBRUARY 24, 2010 | ALLAHPUNDIT

The CPAC straw poll winner explains it all to you. This isn’t the strangest conspiracy theory he’s ever dropped on the Fed, but it’s a nice peg for David Harsanyi’s column this morning on the rEVOLution’s persistent delusion that Paul is the future of conservatism.

Let’s, for a moment, forget Paul (and how I wish this could be a permanent condition, considering the congressman is neither a serious politician nor—and I can’t stress this enough—a serious thinker)…

Paul isn’t a traditional conservative. His obsession with long-decided monetary policy and isolationism are not his only half-baked crusades. Paul’s newsletters of the ’80s and ’90s were filled with anti-Semitic and racist rants, proving his slumming in the ugliest corners of conspiracyland today is no mistake.

Perhaps the greatest tragedy of Paul is that thousands of intellectually curious young people will have read his silly books, including End the Fed, as serious manifestoes. Though you wouldn’t know it by listening to Paul or reading his words, libertarians do have genuine ideas that conservatives might embrace.

How can anybody trust libertarians when their favorite
“son” loads up legislation that he knows will pass and
gives the pork while giggling “I voted against it.”?

In all seriousness, he could be crazy. That was a five-minute diatribe from a man who seemed like he was losing touch with reality. Very bizarre.

Yes - and of course Barney Fwank immediately picked up on the titillating stories of Nixon and Reagan using the Fed to illegally channel money to wherever, saying his committee would be conducting further investigations - thanks for giving the ‘rats another excuse to badmouth the ‘pubs, even if only in jest, Mr. Paul.....

Paul is now leading the Party. There is no one else. He got 31% and Palin got 4%. The question is “is this a party of democracy “ Meaning — do we go by the most votes ?-—or do we just plug in who the leadership tells us to want. This man stands for America — first and foremost. Cut spending and bring home the troops. I LOVE IT!! Conservatives rock!!!

A straw vote at CPAC does not constitute the will of the people.

He's a loon.

Paul is not conservative hes a radical.. Wants radical change in Washington D.C... Like changeing this country from a democracy(Mob Rule) back to a Republic..

He is the bane of RINOs and other moderate stealth democrats.. Many of whom remain hidden on Free republic.. cross dressed as "Republicans".. wearing masks of moderation.. America has been a socialist country for decades already.. Social Security is PURE socialism..

Dude. Get serious.

Palin's leading the party. Not Ron Paul.

When Sarah Palin endorsed Rand Paul -- it was Rand Paul kneeling down and kissing Sarah's ring (so to speak), not the other way around.

And I say this as a HUGE Rand Paul supporter.

Was Reagan a loon? Was Bush a loon? was Romney a loon? I think not. Paul won among conservatives and that can not be denied. He is our new leader just as Reagan was when he won.

A straw vote at CPAC does not constitute the will of the people.

Especially when only 25 % voted.
