(CNN) -- The widow of an Internal Revenue Service employee killed when a disgruntled taxpayer flew his plane into a seven-story building in Austin, Texas, last week is suing the pilot's wife, according to court documents.
Valerie Hunter, the wife of Vernon Hunter, is accusing Sheryl Stack, wife of Andrew Joseph "Joe" Stack III, of negligence, alleging she she knew or should have known that her husband was a threat to others and, thus, could have prevented the attack, according to the lawsuit filed Monday in Travis County District Court.

Neither will profit, this is an exercise in legal blood lust.
I sure as the he** can blame them. The wife did nothing to be sued for. This is totally out of line.
Thanks for the clarification
You probably mean “rationale”.
Someone as far gone as the man had to be to fly his plane into a building just might be a little hard to live with.
I can imagine a situation where she would leave the home because he was insufferable, and a motel is a likely sanctuary.
Of course, such a domestic dispute (I have no evidence either way--might not have happened) could lead him to reach the mental state where he was irrational and decided to burn down the house, etc.
Whatever the situation, he might have been better to join a church than try to scam by as one.

Damned lawyers.
No I have you pegged as do most others on this thread. Your main supporter is ColdWater, who is a vulture lawyer. Great company you got there.
It seems that many people think that if something goes wrong, someone has to pay. In this case, the perp is dead, so there is no getting revenge on him. His family is the next logical choice.
I would not want them to profit.
Well, you are siding with the widow of the murderer over the widow of the murder victim for starts.
Stack’s widow is a victim, but her daughter was also an a$$hole calling her thieving, twisted father a hero in the face of the other widow’s bereavement. Perhaps his dumb a$$ of a daughter will keep her yap shut so her mother doesn’t have to deal with more bull from the aftermath of her husband’s actions.
I haven’t even mentioned taxes.
I know that what I experienced here was the power of Christ in all His glory.
I would not seek to visit the sins of one on another.
You have your definition of grace and I have mine.
Mine was illustrated to me by better Christians than I was.
He had been planning this for months. Quite coincidental that she happened to 'check out' the night before.
Wouldn’t know. I don’t like crazy murderers to profit from a crime, nor their family.
That’s just the way I feel.
He committed suicide in the commission of a crime, so an insurance payout can be ruled out, for the woman being sued.
The plaintiff, however, is very likely to receive a generous payout from the IRS, since her husband was killed while on the job.
Going after the widow of the killer, who has lost her husband and her home, is not going to help anyone. It perpetuates and magnifies the wrong. Leave her be, she’s suffering enough already, and had no hand in this.
But, since my earlier question was not answered, I couldn't be sure.
I wonder what sort of perversions they teach in modern law schools.
Better to sue than to smash a plane into a building and taking innocent lives with you. What if a consumer that had an appointment got killed or the cleaning lady or the guy who changes the water cooler bottles? Would it have been more tragic then. You guys are creepy.
