A Nigerian king-in-waiting has been awarded 10,000 compensation for unfair dismissal by Tesco
An Employment Appeals Tribunal found that Tesco had failed to "adhere to any of the procedures" when it dismissed Edward Agbaje, of The Sycamores, Edenderry, Co Offaly.
Mr Agbaje, who said he is now a taxi driver taking home 31 a week after expenses, had started work with Tesco in May 2006. Speaking at his home in Co Offaly yesterday, Mr Agbaje expressed disappointment at the level of the tribunal settlement.
As he comes from royal lineage, Mr Agbaje had been required to carry out ceremonies in his native village in preparation for his ascendancy to the throne.

why does a royal of ANY country need to get a job at Tesco?
Just damn! I KNEW I should have answered that email!
There are hundreds of kings in Nigeria. Think of England with all the dukes and earls and barons and viscounts, then call them all "king." Most of them still need to get a job.
“ooga booga” said a spokesman for Mr Agbaje.
He can be king on his own time!
Somebody post a shot of Eddie Murphy working in the fast burger joint in COMING TO AMERICA.
A lot of royalty have been driven from their thrones, especially during WWII and while they have the titles and styles, they don’t have the throne itself.
If you hire a King, you have to pay tribute!
I’m surprised he hasn’t gotten a job in Hollywood.
I have been in a Tesco before. It is not a bad place to shop.
Tesco is opening stores in America, too. They use the name Fresh & Easy. They have 3 in Fresno, CA and one is going to open in Reedley. Remember how Walgreens used to have one big store in most towns, now have lots of little ones? The Tesco “Fresno & Easy” outfit seems to be putting in lots of little stores. The stuff is pretty good...I love their prepared meals (unfrozen), but you have to use within a few days of purchase.
I went to Tesco in the UK and we would always by Danish bacon (which looked like ham to me), Quavers and microwave meals.
When I was in London I took notice that Tesco always had an excellent beer selection, and it was pretty cheep. I bought a lot, but the airline was gonna bill me for the extra weight, so I hamered several of them at the airport. Although they were dark, the alc. content was low, like 3-4%, which I found interesting. Now I know where breakfast beer comes from!
