Election boards send results on disputed GOP governor’s race to state today
The Chicago Tribune (newsblog) ^ | 2-23-10 | Rick Pearson

Local election officials face a deadline today to submit their Feb. 2 primary vote totals to the state, amid increasing pessimism from state Sen. Kirk Dillard about his chances of overcoming the narrow lead held by his Republican rival for governor.

State Sen. Bill Brady of Bloomington has been ahead of Dillard by a few hundred ballots as county clerks and local election boards finalize their counting in preparation for the State Board of Elections certifying the results on March 5....

Brady will be officially declared the winner today, though Dillard will still be free to challenge it.

Dillard has openly promised not to pursue a recount unless the tally is closer than 100 votes. Word has it that the final tally will well exceed 300 votes.

Dillard has admitted: “I have no hint of fraud, no hint of improprieties” in the results. It looks like the race effectively ends tonight, as Dillard has no support from the IL GOP on the idea of a recount.

I expect a concession in a day or two.

Well atleast one more nightmare for the IL GOP is going to be avoided as it sounds like Dillard will be conceding. A recount would paralyze the party and give Pat Quinn a good laugh.

I’ve read a news article that says the Dillard camp’s phones have been disconnected.

Thank God, can we finally start going after Quinn as Blago's number two? I wanna re-run the Harold Washington commercial in every black church in Chicago.

Downstate goes to Brady, DuPage Brady, we need to work on Lake County and suburban Crook County.

I met Bill Brady 4 years ago when he ran against the abomination known as Judy Baar Topinka and I really thought he was the guy to beat Blago.

I plan on calling the Brady campaign tomorrow to ask what they need here in south suburban Cook County.

He needs to spend his time up here north of I-80 so he can get some name recognition and hopefully we can get some money flowing to him fast.

I know McKenna and Dillard probably will not do a lick for Brady but I'm guessing the other conservatives in this race will help out.

The only thing McKenna is useful for is the "hair" commercial. I think that could sell quite well.

I can envision an ad with a picture of the toll booth overpass that says Illinois Tollway Rod Blagojavech and have a giant wig on top of it. Then pan to the union folk having to paint over it the day Blago got arrested.

This could be one of the funnest campaigns I've ever seen.

*IL politics ping*

Thanks for leaving me off the ping even though I have worked since 2006 to get Bill Brady elected to Governor. While you just sit there and call me name after name.

Since you didn't answer my questions on the other thread I'll start a new one.

Question 1: When did you meet Bill Brady and what did you guys talk about?

Question 2: Did you know that Dengar01 met with Bill Brady in 2006 and worked for his campaign in DuPage County?

Question 3: Do you know where DuPage county is?

Question 4: On January 26, 2004 where was Bill Brady (the man you champion) and where did he hold his rally?

Question 5: Why do you think you are superior to every Ililinois FReeper when you live in another state?'

Question 6: Who is the mayor of Nashville and where was he born?

Question 7: Who is the mayor of Franklin, TN and where was he born?

Man doesn't this suck having to answer local questions from out of statters who should mind their own business? Yeah I would think so, but you know they are being paid by this giant company called the COMBINE who only employ FReepers under the age of 30 only named Dengar01.

Question 8: Fieldmarshaldj, do you have a Master's Degree or a Doctorate Degree?

If so, plesae list the Universtiy or Universities

Question 9: Fieldmarshaldj why are you so condescending, is it an imperfection? A reaction to a childhood tramauhood?

Question 10: What did Mark Kirk do to Fieldmarshaldj in the wonderful great and awesome state of Tennessee to make Fieldmasrhaljd hate the great state of Illinois so much?

How many hours did Fieldmarshaldj spend in Illinois?

What hotels did Fieldmarshaldj frequent in Illinois?

Did Fieldmarshaljd spend time on Oprah Winfrey or Jerry Springer while in the great state of Illinois?

What part of Michigan Avenue made you hate Illinois?

What makes Nashville a better locale than Chicago?

Is imbreeding better than breeding?

Why are there more guests on Jerry Springer from your parts than my parts, and yet you are an expert on my politics???

How many times have you been electd to DuPage County Chariman?

How many times have you voted in the state of Illinois?

Oh................... you are irrelevant. I'm sorry, I guess you should go trolling on the Montana boards maybe they need a troll from Tennessee.'

This is no dis to Montana I just did a /random of the 50 sttes of the Union and Montana came up. Fieldmarshaldj is an expert in Illinois politics so I'm sure he is an expert in Montana politics as well.

He’s a political history expert. He knows more about the politics of every state than 90% of it’s residents.

Several of us political junkies monitor and comment on races in all 50 states. I find it annoying when someone takes exception and gives the “shut up out of stater” argument. It’s lame.

Jan.-Mar. 2006, I walked seven precincts for State Sen. Brady. In Jan. 2010, I walked five precincts for Adam Andrzejewski. In Sept. & Oct., I’ll walk about five precincts for Brady.

And that my friend, is what I am talking about.

That is how you get someone elected, well, unless you have ACORN and dead votters to deal with, wait... we do!!!

So back to my original point, we need to raise money for Brady, make phone calls for Brady, put signs up for Brady, and go door to door for Brady.

Not sit in our house and worry about the combine.

Most democrats in this state are disgusted at Springfield, which is why I think Bill Brady will be our next governor. But we have a lot of work to do.

And we CAN'T just complain and say, "oh it's fixed, the combine will win, the combine will win".

You can believe all you want that Mark Kirk is part of the combine but I would bet my house that Bill Brady is not.

Well, I just found it annoying that he bashed me from one end to another calling me every name under the sun.

Then claimed I turn tail and ran from some thread which I don't even remember. I guess if it was that big of a deal I would have stayed around but quite frankly to me it wasn't.

Suddenly after bashing me for 3 days straight and me consistently responding to the bashing, DJ disappeared. So I saw him on this thread and decided to do what he does best, attack.

DJ may be an expert on all 50 days, DJ may be a constitutional historian, but DJ lives in Tennessee. He won't be doing the on the ground work that we all will be doing. I worked my ass off for right wing conservatives down to the state rep level. Most of the time they lost because I live in Crook county surrounded by union democrats.

But I didn't give up nor will I give up.

Now that the Gov. battle between Brady and Dillard is over it is on to work to get Brady elected and get the garbage out of Springfield.

If it was humanly possible for you to stop being a trolling Combiner jackass for two seconds, you'd notice I only pinged the people TitansAFC hadn't already, so as not to double-ping them to the same thread. For somebody who "promised" never to respond to me again, you seem to have become quite obsessed with me. Sorry to inform you, but I don't swing that way, honey.
