California Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) chairman Ryan Sorba generated a media controversy when he was shown at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) denouncing the organizers for inviting a homosexual Republican group, GOProud, into the event as an official sponsor. In "controversial" remarks, Sorba said homosexuality was unnatural and that he welcomed more debate and discussion about the subject from his political adversaries.
But what many people don't realize is that Sorba's "outburst" was provoked by a speaker who preceded him, Alexander McCobin of Students For Liberty (SFL). McCobin went out of his way to use valuable time from the podium to thank the American Conservative Union, the main CPAC organizer, for making the controversial decision to approve GOProud's participation.
David Keene, a lobbyist, is the chairman of the ACU and personally approved GOProud's involvement in CPAC.
Sorba told AIM, "I think CPAC went overboard this year. I don't think he [Keene] should be sitting at the top of CPAC." He noted that CPAC over the last several years has also allowed groups such as the ACLU to have exhibits at the event.
"What's next?," Sorba asked. "Are they going to have Republicans for Obamacare? Republicans for free abortions?"

There’s nothing gay about being homosexual. It’s a pathetic life of self loathing perversion and self destructive behavior. “Gay” is a camouflage term, like “progressive” is to describe socialists. This is a 1% fringe group who’s agenda is being forced via any means to be granted access to the same benefits of the other 99% of Americans. To hell with ‘em.
Ask him if he's in favor of eliminating all government funding for Aids programs. Social liberals destroy family, which destroys the country.
Did you just sign up last night to fight for homosexuality?

“Thats probably what Lot and his family said early on in Sodom”
I have no clue what you are talking about
Marxism reigns in both political parties.
I think many in this thread view me as someone who just accepts his homosexuality without review. He’s as conservative as any man or woman, straight or gay, regardless of party. The one and only thing that conflicts with his conservative ideology is that he’s gay. He doesn’t support gay rights, he thinks gay marriage is in direct conflict with the idea of marriage.
I suppose those who come here to bash me for the love of a family member make my point. I’m sorry I even got involved in this discussion.
I believe it is fair to say that CPAC this year was more like LPAC (Libertarian Political Action Committee).
Compromising principles for the “greater good” (or to avoid offending somebody) seems to be a big part of modern conservatism. This kind of thing is why we have a usurper in the White house with few ‘conservatives’ willing to point out that the eligibility clause of the Constitution is still law.
If homosexuals kept things private, then we wouldn’t know they were homosexuals, would we? I live in a town with a large homosexual population. They push their homosexuality on the rest of us. I don’t appreciate that. Just glad my kids are grown. Homosexuality is a sin and I don’t think our society or government should promote sin. Simple as that. I am also against state-run lotteries and state-owned liquor stores. If people want to drink and gamble, fine. But the government should not sponsor it.
If you want closed borders, then perhaps you can return to whatever country your ancestors came from through the then open border.
Romans 1:32 condemns those who approve of homosexuality.
Another cafeteria Catholic?
I completely agree that they can join us based on shared values, however, the controversy is when there is an attempt to change the Conservative platform to suit them. It is like someone going to a restaurant. Everyone is free to come in because they want what is on the menu, but when they demand the menu be changed to suit them is where problems arise.
While there are many things I could say to you, it seems the rest of the thread has mostly said it, and I don’t really hold with the idea of kicking a man when he’s down
So suffice it to say that it seems that you’re not welcome here or in any real conservative circles, and we’ll say no more about it.
A Bible-believing Christian can never accept or promote homosexuality. It is simply an aberration of nature and a sin. This does not mean that other aspects of an individuals character can be lauded. The proper behavior for a person having homosexual tendencies is to submit to God and restrain his aberrant desires, just like a heeterosexual is not to act like Tiger Woods. Homosexuality is used as a club by the left to destroy any Godly values in our culture. Yes you can be a conservative and gay, but please keep your aberrant behavior in the closet and don;t force the rest of us to accept your debasement!
I expect you don't have kids or grandkids in public school.
This is how it works; it's not an election year so libertarians have to listen to social conservative tell them that they are scum and are destroying the GOP. Now if it were an election year, libertarians would have to listen to social conservatives tell them that if they don't stay with the GOP and vote for "W" or so other big spender, they are destroying the party. You can set your watch by this crap.
I wish gubberment would get out of all marriage to begin with. The only way I can see how someone can force me to recognize something my faith teaches can’t exist, like “gay marriage”, is by gubberment involvement.
Gubberment involvement in marriage, at least in modern times, has been awful for the institution, it has taught people that gubberment defines marriage and that it’s just another lousy gubberment contract that can be broken and resumed as long as gubberments says so. Well, there’s a reason folks don’t respect their welfare checks too.
But the gays WANT gubberment involvement, because to most people gubberment really does define marriage, and can force people to treat their “marriages” as legit. But in reality two people of the same sex who say they are married and two people who have a piece of paper from the gubberment saying they are married are equally married, which is to say not at all.
Freegards
So let me see if I understand something here, 999... you’re obviously what many would term a “militant Christian.” You’re completely intolerant of anything having to do with homosexuality, even though Christian values preach tolerance of sinners. You issue a veiled threat against my life and essentially damn my soul to burn in Hell despite the fact that I’m fighting the same fight as you.
How do you manage to rectify your stance in this discussion? When you are so blind to anything but your own beliefs, you dismiss everyone except yourself, and you believe nothing you can’t qualify by your own religious microscope, how is it that you can call yourself a Christian?
Come off your belligerent hate, sir. I find your manners disdainful, and simply over the fact that I have a gay family member. If you had a gay family member, would you cast them into Hell?
I agree with you. Those who say that homosexuality is something that should be granted social approval, however, are a big problem.
Correct, and I agree with everything you said. You're arguing it from the standpoint of religious morality, I'm arguing it from the Libertarian point of view.
I have no tolerance for open displays of homosexuality, and likewise, I have no tolerance for open displays of heterosexuality. I don't appreciate half-naked women gallivanting around in front of kids and families, regardless of how much smut is on modern TV.
